I've been cleaning out my comp and I came across this really old project I had started. It was one of those "choose your own adventure" type deals and I only got twelve pages into it. It was supposed to be a funny little fantasy story. I called it Choose Your Own Postmodern Adventure.
I'm posting what was there as pure text. Each page break is labeled, so you should be able to just scroll. It is far from finished, but before I start typing and editing again I want to get an opinion. Is it crap? Is it worth finishing? Would you want a html version with hyperlinks?
here it is-
----
CHOOSE YOUR OWN POSTMODERN ADVENTURE
By Matthew de Maat, or whatever
PAGE 1
You live in the small town of Bore. Forty-six Kilometers southeast if the Great Castle-city of Fairdow, It consists of thirteen cottages, one ramshackle stable and a small shop that sells an odd assortment of goods that the small populace cannot or will not make on their own. It also has a small Inn & Tavern attached to it, which is mostly used by the locals to drink after a busy day of backbreaking work in the far-off fields of Lord Ildor.
Sitting on your straw bed in your one bedroom cottage, you suddenly have the urge to go out and adventure. You
cleanin' out the computer.

That was great!
I was just frustrated that the page I wanted hadn't been written. Keep it up!
Hyperlinks would make it great!
Or just post more pages here. If you don't do anything with it I'll just hafta post what's here on my site and make people email you for more.
------------------

Agreed, much ass this is kicking. Hyperlinks are badly needed though. Got a really good chuckle from this. Maybe you could sell it to the Brunching Shuttlecocks web site (http://www.brunching.com) or some other humor thing like that...
Jarnor23

I fourth it, because that was some really funny stuff. The part with the narrator at the end had me on the floor. I would have loved reading something like that when I was into those type of books. (Best ones were a time travel series where you got to pick your equipment in the begining, and that series (I think maybe Ad&d?) where you would actually have fights and continue with your character in each new book.
The first path I choose was hanging myself...does that say something about me?

Me and a friend once wrote an adventure like this... you were playing a goblin who starts out by being rudely awakened by somebody yelling "Adventurers in the cave! Run for your lives!"
It was rather silly. (Unfortunately, I no longer have a copy )
------------------
Stig Hemmer, at your disservice.

I'm a few more pages into it, but productivity will be low for a week or two, as I'm really busy with my studies at the moment. When I do update I'll probably start a new thread, since I've done a lot of editing and revision since I posted the current version and I don't want this crappy bit to represent the finished whole.
This is probably the first non academic, non GM thing that I've done in while that I actually feel a little pride in, so you can be sure that I'll finish.
Ex animo,
