Flood control would be a nice start, but the current spammers are going unchecked. A few have been posting for days now without being banned.

Can't we name a new moderator? Heck, I'd do it!

I'm not sure how that would help, either.Ahaugen wrote:maybe we need a waiting period. hopefully only one to four hours
One thing that I would recommend is to limit the amount of topics people can create and the messages they can post for the first little while. I'd probably recommend allowing only one post per day for the first day, and for the first week 1 topic per day and 5 posts.
Granted I don't know if this board even gives us the ability to set that up.
We may need every trustworthy oldbie on moderation duty. If this is war, having more boots on the ground is one solution.Ti-Phil wrote:Can't we name a new moderator? Heck, I'd do it!

Re: Comicgenesis in Spam Apocalypse?
I've been away from forums for a few days.
When you flag them, that helps me a lot, specially if the spam is in already active thread, because those are harder to spot. So thanks.Bustertheclown wrote:When I flag a post, does it go to anyone specifically? I flagged about twenty last night.
Since I seem to be the only one currently dealing with it, yeah I think that another pair of hands could help. Ask Kelly, I'll back you up.Can't we name a new moderator? Heck, I'd do it!

Mods can't ban anyone, and that's a problem if the admins are away.

Re: Comicgenesis in Spam Apocalypse?
Okay, I'm getting there.
Ahaugen and TiPhil should now be "standard" mods of GD. McDuffies I'm giving the ability to ban as a "full" mod. We'll see how it goes.

Nah, I might've been away from the board while this was happening but even after we talked about global mods, I never got any more jurisdiction.

Thank you, I'll try to pass here every day to check if there's spam.

What we need, what we REALLY need.....is a Thunderdome.

Re: Comicgenesis in Spam Apocalypse?
McDuffies, for your first act as full mod, I'd like to recommend the banning of blibiscuiny. This one account has been responsible for a large majority of the spam and it still hasn't been blown up.

Might as well add Wolekiiosacs to the list of spambots.

Re: Comicgenesis in Spam Apocalypse?
Wow, the forum is actually looking pretty good right now. The only type of spam around is the kind that comes in a tin.
Do you think it's too early for the "Mission Accomplished" banner and photo-ops?
