Nick Park pulls it off really well with Gromit, so it is really cool.

I always thought that Gromit actually has exagerated facial features. Like, those giant mouth and eyelids are like that because it's easier to mold clay when you don't have to mess with tiny mouth and eyebrows and such.

nono, you're thinking of Wallice, Gromit's the dog.. no mouth, most of his emotions consist of either body language, or his brow.
