I think Integra's getting at the whole "tech vs. magic" thing. That is, any sufficiently advanced tech will be indistinguishable from magic. So, in theory, Ann's weapons may be as potent as Rip's rifles.

But given the ineffectiveness of tech against old-school magic (i.e. Alucard), it's safe to say that rule is very much not in effect for Hellsing. The series follows more the Lovecraft Cthulhu style, where the Elder Gods are amused by how advanced humans think they are even as the power they tap (such as splitting the atom) is so rudimentary. In other words, as good as Ann's guns are, they're probably still no match for Alucard or magic on the level of Rippy's gun.

(Also, Doc's mad science trumps Ann's engineers. This is a guy who could make fully-functional human-like cyborgs in the 1940's! So even assuming Rip's powers are a function of his genius, she still wins.)

Suddenly, I'm reminded of the 1977 animated film Wizards.
Gundam Wing has hot guys, kick-ass women and mechs. Hellsing has hot guys, kick-ass women and guns. ^_^ Ah, the joys of anime.

Maybe they're bluffing? By pretending there's a non-existent threat to Rip they may be hoping to distract Dandy and increase the odds of him making some costly mistake.

That or some of Ann's guns are magic too. I mean, she's freakishly young looking for somebody her age, so she's got a good shot of being somewhat supernatural herself. That could even explain where the spirit of the Harkonnen came from, Ann placed that spirit in there :P

Good point. Ann could have access to magic. Then it's a case of "Is my magic more potent than yours?" Rip's source magic is the Dark Rider, Zamiel (i.e. Satan). Let's assume Ann has access to blessed objects through connections with a church. That would make it even.

But then add Doc's own expertise in the dark arts (he summoned Nina) and insane quantities of Applied Phlebotinum and it ends up as Rip edging out victory. (Doc made the Jackal, so weapons-making and modifications are well within his skill set.) I mean, Doc pretty much embodies Mad Scientist and For Science! (he even admits as such in volume 10). He's checked off all the items on the Scale of Scientific Sins.

I put Doc's mad science above Ann's engineering any day. (Also, this gives me an idea for a "What's Up Doc?")

Evangelion made more sense than this.

So my guess is the Yellow Kid will do his thing and weaken the Dandy.

Yeah, you may be right there. And on a completely unrelated subject reading that has renewed my desire to see some Doc & Kharl interaction. I don't care if they're from two completely incompatible series, it would be cool, dang it!

Er, anyway, so apparently the second mistake is... attacking Hellsing? As much as I hate to say it I don't think that makes much of a difference here. At her current power level I think Seras is a bit outmatched by Rip, and the only other two Hellsing members present are Pip and Integra, and Dandy already has caught them.

Wait a second... how vulnerable are Millennium vampires to holy water? And how close does Integra have to be to the source to bless it?

She doesn't need it. Xuanwu, I'm asking nicely if you can show an example of this, since you're very good at this... while I would just mess it up otherwise.

Well, the example where she blessed her own spittle and used it to hurt Crowley is the best illustration: http://hellsing.comicgenesis.com/d/20081224.html

A sudden thought: Think Alucard had ever seen the movie "Deliverance" or read the book before he fought the Dandy? If so, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! XD But yeah. Integra pwns so much it's not even funny. Oh, and can she consecrate the rain if that ever happens while she's fighting a vampire, or is that a little too lofty for anyone, even the Pope?

Another sudden thought: Will there ever be a Princess Bride crossover in this series? :3
I got the way and means to New Orleans
I'm goin' down by the river where it's warm and green
I'm gonna have a drink, then walk around
I got a lot to think about
Oh yeah...

The Sunday strip's late. Must've been because the site was down for some time yesterday.
