Hunter X Hunter is awesome. The constant hiatus worry me though. Not so much for the time between updates, but the fact that we may never see the ending.

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Ok, let's see if I'm understanding this right:
Bubba Saucony is a 100% Producer. So far, all we've seen of his powers are that he's resistant to harm, very very strong, and very very fast. (as pointed out my Mr. Corrado) His FOCUS is (or at least was on the old system of showing the characters' abilities, you can't see it now) Heavenly Body. This would seem to indicate that he uses his SOL to "pump himself up" and that he does so without drawing on the outside world at all. I'm guessing that because he's a 100% Producer, he can only improve himself based on whatever internal reserves he has. (calories stored in fat; food recently eaten; whatever) When that runs out, he's unable to continue "pumping up." Of course, if he does draw on fat reserves I wouldn't count on him running dry anytime soon.
Earl Saucony, on the other hand, is a 100% Consumer. His powers have been rather average so far- he's fast and has a sword. Since he was supposedly "killed" by Mr. Corrado, but then was able to stand up to the minions of Lady Pratin alongside Bubba speaks of regenerative capabilities, supported by his (possibly no longer valid) FOCUS Leech Link. (or was it Link Leech?) I conjecture that unlike his brother, he must seek outside his body to gain super-durability, super-healing, what-have-you, and that he uses the chain connecting him to "leech" his brother's strength. (since Bubba is a Producer, he can always make more) Whether he can "leech" strength from other sources is unknown. (it may be that Bubba is simply the most convenient, and friendly, source)
As for my character, he'd be a 100% Consumer, or very close to it. He requires the materials to make glass to already exist- sand for Rock and air to produce Fire. After that, his FOCUS let's him control the glass, making it unbreakable and shaping it to his will.

What kind of things are those with thought type SOL capable of?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Bango, you pretty much nailed it on the head with the Sauconys. As for your character, at first I thought the unbreakable glass would be a little over-powered, but the fact that's he's 100% consumer balances that out. I would say unbreakable glass is a possibility but it's relatively straining when he creates it.
Gray, thought types typically read or project thoughts. 100% producer could project his thoughts onto others while 100% consumer can read minds. Some focuses you'll meet: The ability to read minds but only the current "active" thoughts and the subject must be within a pretty short distance. Another is not as limited by distance but he can only read abilities and potential, more subconscious stuff, not actual thoughts. McFly creates illusions and projects them on others, but sometimes needs a regent like grassman.

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Heh, yeah. He's got a cool power, but it does have a lot of limitations. It takes about 100x the energy to create new glass from the environment than it does to simply 'animate' old glass that he comes across. So, while he might do things like summon a glass golem to pound his enemies into paste, he's gonna be in bed for the next week or so. That's why he carries around a pre-made chain, and relies on his speed and it to do most of the fighting. Plus, he's got to be physically (like skin-to-glass) touching the glass for it to work- he's essentially pouring his SOL into it; that's how he controls it, why it's unbreakable, and why it turns green. A particularly smart foe would simply ignore the golem and work on forcing him to let go of it; if that happened it would simply become a regular glass statue.

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
For the glass to remain unbreakable, you'd need to continue to pour SOL into it, right? So if a massive amount of force were applied to the glass, would it require more SOL to keep it unbreakable, or does it only require a constant flow of SOL through it?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Mmm, it's just a constant amount. Unbreakable is unbreakable- unlike animals, some things aren't more equal than others. However, since you're talking about SOL here, you could conceivably try and wait him out. Plus, it requires conscious activation; he has to be awake and aware of what he's doing to keep it going. (I'm looking for ways to make it less totally overpowered. Didn't really think about it when I thought it up.

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
I was thinking the same thing about it being overpowered, but if you needed a greater amount of SOL depending on your opponent, it could end up being underpowered.

Is Frank Blank's SOL in complete balance? If so, does that make him the most Bad Ass Mutha in the comic as of yet?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Black is pretty Badass, but not the most badass that you've met so far. His perfect balance comes at a price.
As for the issue of Bango's SOL, it could really go either way, it depends on the focus and how long his character has been SOL active.
As an example, Eugene has a pretty similar ability except that he uses metal. When touching metal, he can mold it into any shape he wants including complex objects like a gun or even some sort of vehicle. BUT to make these things, he has to have complete understanding of how the object is constructed from the ground up because he is essentially building the item each time. The initial transformation uses a large burst of SOL while maintaining the shape requires a weaker but constant stream. Objects revert to their original form once the SOL connection is broken. For this reason Eugene usually carries the complex items but disguises them as simpler things. So a knife that he changes to a gun was most likely a gun all along. He has a pretty versatile power but it can be hampered in a lot of ways.
Try this. Ask yourself "Could my character be contained in a pretty standard jail?" If the answer is "no" he might be over-powered. Examples: If there's no metal, or you wrap him up so he can't touch skin to any metal, Eugene is boned. If you gag Ralph, he can't access his big powers. If you manage to completely disarm McFly and tell the guards to keep away, that will probably keep him locked up (though don't forget to check his mouth for lockpicks).

Dangit, Eugene' focus seems eerily similar to mine, I gotta go changies.
I stole my Avatar, and I'll never give it back.
WHAT!? Even more SOL questions!?
So what exactly dictates what type of SOL one has?
Also, what's the deal with Yellow Star?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Ok, I can see that. Kilroy's power is very strong, but you could lock him up in a jail cell. All you gotta do is keep him away from any glass or anything that could make glass. So, metal or synthetic materials only. Solid rock might work, but has a tendency to crumble into bits small enough for Kilroy to turn into glass. Alternatively, you could simply wrap him up enough to keep him from getting skin-to-stuff contact.

The price Frank Black has to pay, would it be the dying at 45 thing or something more
and if thats the lines the price follows for perfect balance, we rly shouldn't get to attached to characters like that right?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
I just looked at The Professor and Ace Christians stats, and they're both Thought based Consumers. Does being a Thought Consumer, as well as leading to mind reading, mean that the person could in theory actively consume thoughts themselves? e.g. whipe some ones memory or whipe their mind completely? Or even remove knowledge of a certain subject, for instance, could he take away someone's knowledge of how to use their own SOL, or any training they've had?

Re: Stats Theory (opinion)
Yes Mr.D, all those things are possible.
Bobdeco, I understand your hesitation to grow attached to a character when you know he's going to die at some point, but take heart in this: one of the titles I was considering other than 'Badass Muthas!' is 'Everyone Dies'... which I kind of regret not going with now that I think of it. Another runner up is 'Fight Fight Superstar'
