Re: The Olympics
Watching the Olympic coverage on the news here in Ireland is neat, since the focus isn't really on America all that much, since that is what I'm accustomed to seeing.
And Michael Phelps took a 7th gold to tie Spitz's record. Awesome.

Re: The Olympics
I finally watched a bit of the Olympics today, specifically the second heat of the Men's 3000 meter steeplechase.
And one thing I have to say, Anthony Famiglietti was truly amazing. Running is the only sport I actually participate in, and this guy was one of the finest runners I've ever seen. He was obviously pushing himself throughout the entire thing to stay in front of the other racers. Of course, two of the other racers passed him during the very final stretch, but it's still an incredible feat by any runners standards.
Unfortunately, the Kenyans as usual look like a shoo-in for the gold in most, if not all of the running events. Anthony might be able to nab us a silver, though...

DISTANT third!
Wow, Australia's currently third. I guess we'll have to make up for this with epic fail at the Winter Olympics.

Hee hee. Here, try some epoxy.
Still, good run for the US. Yays! And man, that Bolt guy from Jamaica sure can book it. I mean, he wasn't even to the finish line before he slowed down and did a victory dance and he STILL won gold.

Re: The Olympics
What is it with sprinters' egos? I mean, at least wait until you cross the finish line before you start showboating. To think what his time might have been if he'd bothered to run to the end.MixedMyth wrote:Still, good run for the US. Yays! And man, that Bolt guy from Jamaica sure can book it. I can't believe Germany has that many Gold medals ... *g* it's great, but I never thought they would have such a high rank in the medal list ... and I'm even more surprised Russia is not at rank three after China and the USA...

Well, Germany is ranked 3rd in the eternal ranking... (granted mainly because we had two Germanies competing for a while and the Winter Olympics tend to go to Germany as well).
