Retirement
[Warning: Sappy sentimental crap ahead!]
If y'all haven't noticed my attendance on the forums and in the chat room has been spotty at best for the last few months. Rather than quietly disappearing into the abyss without any explanation like so many people who used to hang out around here have done, I'm going to officially announce that I am retiring from webcomics.
Since I started getting more and more into the film biz more and more of my free time is disappearing, and I don't have much time anymore to maintain a presence here. So I may still pop in every once and a while, but I honestly think I may all but disappear in the foreseeable future.
Okay, here it goes... I never thought I could get serious around you guys but I'll give it a try...
I remember when I joined Comic Genesis (or Keenspace as it was called at the time) in the summer of 2002 as a larf to pass the time when I had to repeat 10th grade biology over the summer. At that time I was a relatively immature 15-year-old who didn't know much about anything. And in the five years that followed hanging out here and interacting with you guys definitely helped me become the somewhat mature 21-year-old I am today.
So yeah, I'll remember the good times, the bad times, the ugly times. Which I shall now list:
The good:
-the SF keenspace hangout thing.
-Universal Studios with Teammayhem - best LA trip ever (and only so far)
-hang outs in general. Back when I joined in 2002 nobody here had ever met anyone else in person. That all changed about two years later. Now there are even hookups! I really like how a solid community has developed here.
The bad:
-the super shitty MS paint "Waterguy" comics I made which I thought were high art at the time
-the super emo "Zombie High" comics I thought were intellectual at the time,
The ugly:
-one-upping War in the naked self pic thread with a pic of me and just my ipod
-my love-hate relationship with VileTerror (anyone remember him/her?)
Jesus Christ my memory is bad. I'm sure there was a lot of stuff I forgot.
So yeah, with almost six years under my belt I think I had a good run.

Re: Retirement
Too bad. I'd say that we'll miss you, but you haven't exactly been around for a long time. I'm one of people who witnessed your "transformation" from practically a kid to a grown man, it all seems like a speed-up film now.

So long, God speed. Hopefully you come back and visit, you will be missed. Feels emptier every time some veteran leaves...

Re: Retirement
I won't say you'll be missed, mostly because you haven't been around for a long time. You were a regular before I started here. It's good to hear you're doing well, and I really hope everything goes well for you in the future.
Re: Retirement
It saddens me to see most of the crowd I know from around here disappearing. For every friendly face that remains, a couple more have moved on.
Ultimately though, I think a lot of people end up coming back, because there's something special about this community. It's reasonably consistent, even if you've been away for a while, which is a nice thing to have, sometimes.
Good luck out there, but remember as long as there's someone here who remembers you you'll never be unwelcome.

Betcha we'll still be here in the future. You go do you things like you've been doing for a long long time, and maybe someday down the road you'll wanna pop in for a visit.

Re: Retirement
You put in a good run, and you're moving on to bigger and better, so I can't say as it's a bad thing. Good luck, and don't forget to come back and gloat when you get a big budget film credit.

Re: Retirement
Just the other day I was thinking "what ever happened to Toxic?"
I guess this means I'll have to take the "Toxic's boy toy" out of my sig now
.
Good luck.
Should probably take Cookie out to, since Cookie is no More.

I must say I enjoy that "yeahduff" is new slang for brain.

Oh wow, I was a dumb fifteen-year-old too...
It's always nice to hear what vanishing oldbies are up to, rather than being left in the dark forever. Goodbye and good luck!
