do any of you like sports at all

Post by Halo299 »

I hate sports. I have always hated sports and anyone who likes them. and for people who play them (on a professional level) i have nothing but contempt.

Honestly, why some people enjoy watching millionaires on steroids play a game is simply beyond me.

But over the last couple of years my opinions towards them have softened just a little. I like the idea of athleticism even if i can't agree with its place in our culture. But there are two sports that i don't hate and have actually enjoyed from time to time.

football (soccer)
and boxing

for some reason, these two activities seem to be exempt from my normal hatred of professional sports. I can't say i follow ether of them, but i enjoyed the hell out of watching the World Cup a few years back and i have played the shit out of FIFA 06 and Fight Night Round 3 so that has to say something.

Is there any sport that you enjoy more than others?
any particular reason?

Bowling: Fun to play, boring to watch.

All other sports: Too exhausting to play, boring to watch.

Women's gymanstics? Yum.

I love to play a number of sports but there are very few sports I care to watch.

As far as being a spectator the only sports I really enjoy watching are Hockey and Rugby and real auto racing (ie, not NASCAR).

I didn't even think about Martial Arts and Climbing, which are two activities i enjoy a lot.

I completely agree, getting together with some people to throw a ball of some type or another around can be great fun.

I'm not big on sports. I kinda like football, though I don't follow it actively.

Watching: Only Le Mans. So, that's one time every year :P

Participating: Not at all. Once it turns from "recreational" into sports, count me out. I like rollerblading and kayaking, but only for fun. Ok, so some people think sport is fun, so what's the difference? I'll explain it like this: It's the difference between being a race driver and driving to work. It's the difference between being running a marathon and being late for the bus. One is sport, the other is not.

To be honest, I don't really like people very much, but if you think "oh, so you prefer solo sports", nope, still wrong. Solo sports mean using something like a stop watch, or otherwise beating your own record. It means setting a goal, and sticking to it. I don't like that either. Sure, I may set a goal when I go kayaking, looking at the map and wanting to go somewhere specific. But when I notice a nice sunny beach on the way, I'm not sticking to the goal. The plan just changed, time to enjoy the sun and go for a swim :D

Ultimate strip frisbee.

Heck, many sports can be improved by lack of clothing.

It's pretty simple, actually- despite all our culture, civilization, and technology, there's still a primal urge to compete against other tribes for survival. Since our culture isn't conducive to such an urge, people find another outlet for it, which is usually professional sports.
It is very dark. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

And many, especially ones including high speeds and rough surfaces, can go horribly wrong.

I really like boxing and Muay Thai... I'm terrible at boxing, but I love watching them. Also, most brands of football (except that weird armored American version) and swimming.
I shall keep myself in oysters for the rest of the week, thank you very much.

Reminds me of a game idea me and my DM came up with; Superhero Wrestling.
