Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
this is what I drew for my livejournal, but since nobody visits that page to read my stuff, I'm gonna post it here as well, since this lil' comic deserves to be shown.

Ha, I love that last panel.
I'm glad 90's style forum signatures don't exist anymore.

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
I'm drawing sketches of 31 of my favorite cartoon characters, one for each day in March. First up is Grumpy Dwarf from Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs!

This is the "finished" version of what I had started earlier. I put it in quotes because that's as finished as it's gonna get.

Just doodling in MGF1106, decided to ink it for what it was worth. Experimenting with clothing for Steven (on the right), and I feel pretty satisfied with that.
Now if only I could get hair to cooperate, then we'd be in business.
Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
That there's an exhibition of favorite cartoon characters allegedly painted by Adolf Hitler going on is pure coincidence, right? =SJim North wrote:I'm drawing sketches of 31 of my favorite cartoon characters, one for each day in March. It would seem so, considering today's doodle is Grouchy Smurf.

Okay, so now I have no idea what you're on about now.

These (see below) are currently on display and were on the news during the last couple days. Very similar to what you're doing right now, though possibly completely unrelated. (Allegedly, the AH in the corner stands for Adolf Hitler, which is why its been getting media attention.)Jim North wrote:Okay, so now I have no idea what you're on about now.

I should say that while he did some bad things, I've seen some of the paintings that were confirmed as his, and he was an extremely competent artist, very good eye...KWill wrote:These (see below) are currently on display and were on the news during the last couple days. Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
My pizza delivery swordsman and his half-cyborg girlfriend.(she has an assault rife with a grappling hook launcher attachment as her right forearm.)The motorcycle was rushed and I didn't use reference. I covered up the engine detail with an enclosure. I think I forgot to draw the other handlebar too. There's no foot rest or clutch thingy either. The angle of his hand holding the pizza is wrong. The length of the girls left leg (her left) is inconsistent with her right leg). Her left arm just sort of disappears behind the dude. The dudes left leg(his left) isn't touching the ground, but it is at the wrong angle to be resting on the bike. The fact that I drew this while waiting for food at a pizza hut is a valid excuse, right?

I'd been under the impression that he (Edit: Adolf Hitler) was a fairly mediochre artist. Like not that he was terrible, but that there was a reason he never got famous for painting, y'know?
Edit: Hey Blackhole, have you ever read Snow Crash?

He was rejected from artschool because they said his paintings were too structured - They said he had great architectual drawing skills though. He never became famous for painting because killing a few million people tends to upstage that sorta thing.jesusabdullah wrote:I'd been under the impression that he (Edit: Adolf Hitler) was a fairly mediochre artist. Just felt like drawing with the tablet:

Re: Doodles 10 - Cutting a Double Figure
yep. It's awesome. Sadly it's the only book by the author that is awesome. Before I found Snow Crash I had read Neuromancer and just about everything else by William Gibson. He could do no wrong untill Pattern Recognition. That book and the new one he has out is crap.jesusabdullah wrote: Edit: Hey Blackhole, have you ever read Snow Crash?

Something I drew for the local Firefly nerds:

(Hint: It's the Millennium Falcon as a Reaver ship.)
While I'm at it:

Nothing special, but I liked it for some reason.
Edit: I kinda like Adolf's painting of the building. I guess they were right about his architectural potential.
