Stalking relatives online
I was doing a little research on my family and found my cousin Jon (whom I've never met, his dad and my mom's dad were brothers). It turns out he's a trekkie who hangs out of webcomic forums, which is really weird because I'm a trekkie who hangs out on webcomic forums.

Supposedly I have a relative that reads about serial killers online.
I don't really know him that well- but in the few times I've met him he's given me the creeps.
I have a feeling he's just a nerd though. He kept bragging about his Lord of the Rings Collector's Edition DVDs when they were just released

actually come of think of it that's fairly true for me too. other than that my parents don't care too much about my comic, though my cousin in the states is a fan, i think.theSuburbanLetdown wrote:Most of my relatives live on the other side of the planet and don't speak English well. Now that I think about it, I've actually been told that some of my cousins in Thailand and the Philippines read my comic. Oh my, the things they must be thinking.legostargalactica wrote:actually come of think of it that's fairly true for me too. other than that my parents don't care too much about my comic, though my cousin in the states is a fan, i think.theSuburbanLetdown wrote:Most of my relatives live on the other side of the planet and don't speak English well. Heh, yeah. I was at my cousin's graduation party a year or two ago (so were you, come think of it) when someone thought it'd be a good idea to mention I had a comic on the internet. I was obligated to hand out the address, and like a dozen people wrote it down. Not to long after that, I thought, "Wow, this is going to be the one thing they know about me."

I have a cousin who is the same age as me, lives in the same town, that I barely ever talk to, that ended up taking a college course with me (and for some really odd reason, the teacher thought we were a married couple because we had the same last name and sat next to each other
) that told me during that class that he read online comics. I told him I did one, but he wouldn't like it and then told him the name of it and he replied "Yeah, you're right, I don't like that comic."

My brother reads my comic... I showed my dad my mini-comics, he asks if they are getting better, and by getting better he means less swearing. Is that support?

Most of my family doesn't even know what the "internet" is. My grandma had enough trouble understanding the concept of a digital camera.
However, I did learn last Christmas that my uncle has a character on World of Warcraft. It started a discussion where me, my siblings, my parents, three of my cousins, their parents, and my grandma were discussing the difference between normal video games and MMORPGs. It was interesting because I've never figured any of them for gamers.

I abuse my little brother as a test audience. He's taught me the valuable lesson that you can't please everyone.supernerdcore wrote:My brother reads my comic... I showed my dad my mini-comics, he asks if they are getting better, and by getting better he means less swearing. Is that support?
As for stalking relatives online... my last name is way too common for that to work out, and I have too few German relatives for it to be worth stalking them.
