Are you having difficulty logging into SiteAdmin?

I have the same problem, tried it from a completely different (as in different in every possible aspect) computer (another OS, another ISP, another backbone!!!), and it still doesn't work. Tried it with a new Forum account (this one) and it still doesn't work. Maybe I should request a new space on CG?

@ projekt42.wolfieinu - Maybe I should request a new space on CG? That wouldn't make a difference. The problem is logging in to SiteAdmin and that's independent to your comic account. Are you on a wireless connection?
= = = =
Okay, I officially have no idea what's going on...
It seems like the server doesn't like some people and it's actively blocking them even when someone else is creating accounts on their behalf.
There's probably a very logical explanation for it, but I can't work it out...

"That wouldn't make a difference. The problem is logging in to SiteAdmin and that's independent to your comic account."
That's a relief, I just got this thing working and don't want to do it all over again :)
"Are you on a wireless connection?"
I tried on two different setups.
My computer:
Dell OptiPlex GX110
OS: WinXP SP2
ISP: Telkom (South Africa), DSL [ - SAIX backbone]
Browser: Firefox
My cousin's computer:
iMac
OS: MacOS
ISP: iBurst (wireless) [ - some other backbone that I've forgotten the name of.]
Browsers: Firefox and Safari
And I'm projekt42.wlfieinu (my original forum account, wolfieinu, has stopped working for some reason), my webcomic (what there is of it anyway) is projekt42.comicgenesis.com.
Maybe I should just forget about the whole auto-update thing and FTP everything manually until there's a solution... but I'm not that desperate yet... :)

any other error is a bad password.
in other words:
Short error = bad username
Long error = bad password
If you used the same username and password that you used on the forums (which you should be doing ANYWAYS) punch logout on the forums AND the siteadmin, and then login to the forums followed by the siteadmin and try that.
Oh and I've temporarily disabled the new private message notification... for some reason it's throwing errors.

Yes, but the people in this thread are those having strange problems above and beyond the normal. The suggestion above was advised to people in the very first post, and it's a problem that's been building up since September.Kisai wrote:Well bad username means the username is simply spelled wrong any other error is a bad password.
What is the user meant to do when they enter "Saeliah" in both the forum and siteadmin with the right passsword and SiteAdmin says "Saeliah not a valid username ... suggested username: "Saeliah"?
In other words, they are in the system and the server recognizes them as such, but still won't let them in...

Exactly. We're not just goofballs who keep making case mistakes or putting in the wrong passwords over and over again. It seems there's a group of us who still can't login, despite already trying everything obvious and following mod guidance.
In my case, login to my particular account has now failed on nearly ten different computers. After trying it on 3 home systems, I passed my login off to multiple friends, not to mention Doctor Neo Lao. I then created a totally new forum account, and repeated the process, still with no login.
I'd have to talk to my friends to figure out detailed specs on their systems, but I can say at least that my friends aren't all from the same town or anything; we vary in country, ISP, browser, OS, connection style, and firewall & antivirus setup. And just as a note, yes, I gave full, detailed instructions on the proper way of logging in to these friends.
Kisai, if you'd like, I'll PM you my login info and you can test it from your setup.
Dr Neo Lao, I assume you ruled out the old Keenspace account theories? And all these login problems are still related to/caused by the server move, right?
My info again:
kaourika, joined May 2005 But in the last few weeks I created a new account which didn't work, either.
Dell / Windows XP Pro SP2 / IE 7.0.5730.11 / Wired LAN / No antivirus / Windows Firewall is disabled; LAN router is acting as a firewall.
My other main "testing enviroment" is my lappy:
Fujitsu / Windows XP Tablet PC Edition / IE 6 / Wirelessly connects to LAN / Same AV and firewall as above.
Whatever happens, I'm still just hoping it won't involve getting a new CG account. For those of us with established comics, that would be a really messy and chaotic thing to have to go through.

Not ruled out, just not the main reason. I have the horrible feeling that there are several different reasons for why different people can't log in, and if anyone has been able to get in, they haven't come here to let us know about it. And what works for one may not work for another, so it's a matter of digging through as much information as possible and formulating and testing theories...Dr Neo Lao, I assume you ruled out the old Keenspace account theories? And all these login problems are still related to/caused by the server move, right?
When I first noticed that there were people who were unable to log in despite having been able to previously or having been told the proper way to do it, the people involved were mainly old Keenspacers.
However, as the problem has evolved (and I've dug into the history of the Help Center) I noticed that there was a fairly broad mix of people who couldn't get in, some old, some new. There were a bunch of people along the way who were using the wrong name, wrong password, had firewalls, etc but most of them have been sorted out.
As a wild guess (based on nothing other than watching the number of new forum members) there seems to be (on average) about five new comic accounts being set up each week. Of those being set up, there are only twenty or so people with this problem since early September.
So far, the only common denominator seems to be (but may not even be a factor) that the way the login is handled has been changed. Except that it does not affect everyone, only some people. And it affects them consistently. If they create a new account, they can't log in with that account either.
Edit: kaourika, sent you a pm, in case you don't get a "You have 1 New Message" message...

I was on the verge of writing an e-mail asking about this issue, but it would appear as if I'm just one of many with this problem. I don't really know anything about managing a website, I'm going to have a partner doing that and she hasn't gotten back in touch with me, but as it is, I would like to know how the interface (or lack thereof, perhaps) works before I throw her into it, as it were.
I don't think I'll bother posting my account information and system specs, seeing as the problem doesn't seem to stem from such things. If a solid solution arises that works for the majority, but not for me, then I will. As it stands, I will just keep checking on this until something can be done. I hadn't intended to actually begin my comic until 2008.

I just thought of a workaround. Perhaps if I created the new good-looking page, deleted all the autogenerated pages in /public_html, and replaced the template with the new page I'd just created, then uploaded all the original comics to /workspace again, the effect would be that I got a full update at the next autoupdate? Would that work?

I am having problems logging in to siteadmin also. My account is from the keenspace days and I haven't tried to log in to it since the comicgenesis changeover. The error I'm getting is the 'invalid username' error but the suggested spelling is exactly the way I'm typing in the name.
I have tried from wire and wireless on 2 different computers.
XP Sp2
IE and Firefox

update:
This is the error I'm getting -
Forum Username sanitycheck not valid!
You must have a ComicGenesis Forum login (or you entered a bad username or password, it is CASE SENSITIVE.)
Please see below for possible correct spellings:
sanitycheck
I have just uninstalled my virus scanner program (was mcaffee) and turned off the firewall.
I use a netgear wireless router with no encryption turned on, behind a surfboard cable modem (Time warner cable). My computers are running windows XP sp2, and 2 of them are quite literally brand new right out of the box this week, but I cannot log in to siteadmin with any of them. The error message LOOKS like the database isn't picking up on the fact that my forum id exists, so I'm not sure why I really bothered with uninstalling and stuff, but I figured why not go for completeness.
EDIT
I did some more testing with my login. I noticed that if I used the 'wrong' password, I got the exact same error listed above, so I went to the forum profile tool and reset my password. This spawned an error during the reset process:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function session_reset_keys() in /keen/forums/public_html/includes/usercp_register.php on line 537
Password does appear to get reset, but still doesn't work.

i've been having this problem as well, and sort of following along in the forums when I have time.
forum username, signupdate (from profile)
SinaiEnantia, Nov. 4, 2007
OS Version(if you know where), browser (from browsers about page)
Windows XP Media Center Edition SP2, Firefox (also tried with IE)
What antivirus, anti-spyware, and firewall software you are using *VERY IMPORTANT*
Symantec Corporate Edition, AVG Anti-spyware (not running in background, as I have the free version), Spy Sweeper (which I need to uninstall, as it's expired, and I have no intention of renewing it). I believe that's it.
I have tried Kisai's solution (except I don't think I tried making a new account) without success.
I am also on an encrypted wireless network, but the computer I'm on is wired to it. I have a laptop but don't have access to it at the moment, so I'll try it out there. My ISP is SBC Yahoo DSL.
Sorry if I left out any information, but I'm thinking of what you asked for from memory. I'm not exactly a prolific comicker, so if necessary, I may give up on my comic for now and come back when the kinks are worked out (or at least when my semester's over). Especially since that might give me time to actually learn how to build a proper webpage. But I hope we can find a solution to this problem soon!
