Oh, I wasn't disagreeing with you at all - on the contrary, I just wanted to explain why Disney is still using the licensed properties despite that legal battle: Disney does not even contest that the characters aren't theirs, and that they should pay somebody something for their use - the battle, right now, is just about to whom they'll end up having to pay which amount.

I'm just glad Disney never got around to butchering Ducktales. I can't see how a movie of Ducktales could fail (other than in profits, which is the most important detail of all, cost effective-wise

) but somehow I can only imagine if they made a Ducktales movie these days, it would fail epically. Probably fill it with current time catchphrases and pop-culture references.

I do adore animated movies about treasure hunting though.

My primary issue with Pooh as far as the Disney versions go is that the actual Milne stories are actually aimed at more mature readers/listeners than the Disney stuff comes across to me as. (Kingdom Hearts aside.) I discovered this by accident when I selected a real Pooh compendium to read to some toddlers at 'storytime' and discovered that all of the stories were muuuch too long for their attention spans.

Disney, you have hurt me so often in the past....do not raise my hopes only to dash them once more...

On a less melodramatic note, Lilo and Stich 2 was actually funnier than the original. I still like the first one better, but hey.

Also, what happened to that new 2-D Disney film about the black princess that rumour said was in the works? The frog one. Is that still on?

just to back up mcduffies, to some extent, mickey was much more interesting in the 40s and 50s. He was a shit disturber, and an all around rapscullion. In his forst movie he stole a boat.

He also has the dubious pleasure to be the only american cartoon/comic character not banned by mussolini.

Unfortunately, he has been sanitised.

Hmm. It shouldn't be too difficult, per se. If you had iMovie or some other basic video editing software, you'd just add a new sound track over it. Heck, some people just upload MP3s and have the listener just sync it up with the film.

I find Disney toons most boring. I remember watching Disney Afternoon sometimes on regular TV before all the after school cartoons were pulled off for Jerry Springer and Maury. But I never found myself involved in those cartoons. They were just not fun to watch.

It is, apparently, true and word is that CEO of Apple, creator of Pixar and Disney board member Steve Jobs is responsible.

He always did have a very, very low tolerance for poor products and usually expresses it brutally and unequivocally. The Disney direct to DVD movies, however, he described as a fairly tame "embarrassing". Possibly a journalist was about at the time so he couldn't go all out.
