Good news everyone. The server to replace the main comic server has been ordered, and once received will be in this Saturday.

But what are we going to name this monster. Here's the specs from Nate:

8 core processor (4 cores CPU's, 2 CPU's)
16 GIGS of RAM (I betcha we'll still touch the HD).
4 750 Gigs of SATA Hard disk space in a 3-way RAID setup and a hot-swappable spare. Total is just barely 1.5 TERABYTES of space.

I want your suggestions here, ASAP! Remember, traditionally it's been named after a comic's character. Butch is from The Chopping Block, a 'Spot comic. Sandy (the forum server) is from Fallen Angels' Used Books. I'd like to keep the tradition.

I still suggest the name TINY.

If it has to be the name of a character, then I suggest Ryan from The End of Things. :D

Or UGLY, from Ugly Girl.

I suggest Titanic.

If we all get together and act arrogant about this server being uncrashable, the allusion would be that much sweeter.

Plus, if it does crash, we can say 'OH NO! The Titanic crashed!'.

Of course, it's probably not good for the entire thread to be one mass of favourite comic characters, so in the interest of - I dunno, bipartisanship? - I also second Ugly.

I would suggest Aerra, named for Erra (Nergal) Babylonian god of war, or Oc, from Magics & Barbarics.
Oc sounds like it could take a beating. :)

Well if we're naming it after comic characters I'll throw "Baker" into the ring...not that it will win or anything.

Calling it Titanic seems like a self-fufilling prophecy to me.
