Stating the Obvious...
Although CG was up and running beautifully around 6:30 or so, as of 9:40 central time (and beginning at least by 8:30) no comicgenesis sites seem to be coming up. I'm assuming this is part of continuing updating and server adjustments, and I'm not panicking or frantically emailing the admins. OTOH, if I were a newbie, I think I'd want a post stating the obvious, to make sure they're not alone...

Thanks, Al!
Yes, it was working beautifully.. about midnight central, I saw that my comic had updated smoothly and on time for the 2nd day in a row! *blink blink*
Then this AM I see that everything is down. I also see that StrRedWolf is working on a fix in the "Domains not setting right" thread stickied above. (though I would like to see a new thread, rather than one that refers back to November. Surely this isn't the same problem as addressed back in November?)

Well at least I'm not the only one. I checked my page this morning to see if it updated and was greeted with a "Page not found" error. Oh well, I'm sure it will get fixed soon.
Heart of a Dragon- A dangerous force threatens all the Earth, and the planet's salvation rests on the shoulders of the last Dragon, only she doesn't know how to stop them. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
My backup site
My backup site
This has been happening repeatedly recently without much in the way of explanation.
I have Project Wonderful ads on my Lab Bratz site, and so THAT's how I found out my site was down. They sent me an email that they couldn't find my site today. Imagine that! They sent me an email!
Since I also PAY for Project Wonderful ads to bring in traffic, I now have to cancel those ads. Why pay for ads when readers can't find me? And anyone clicking on those ads trying to find Lab Bratz will get an error page AND NEVER TRY OUT MY COMIC AGAIN.

that really sucks, Amtekoth. I never really considered your situation.
I was more thinking along the lines of the members that sell advertising space and are required to give CG half of the profit. In that situation I think I'd be getting a little fussy about right now.
(btw, i'm not trying to dig on anyone. i know you bust your ass, Wolf, and I appreciate all your work)

I have to agree that it would at least be nice if they gave a new thread just to announce "Sorry, we're experiencing technical difficulty.. we're working on it."
And while I realize no one has to pay for this service, this site hosts a LOT of space, and the admins are working their collective tails off.. maybe assigning someone a quick task of just posting a new thread or collective message to keep ppl updated would be a wonderful customer service addition. And it would also keep new ppl from panicking..

Okay, I think I know what the problem is. I've reconfigured the database so it shouldn't loose it's connection to the other servers. It'll be slow for a bit, but should be back up fully in a few. I'll check it after I get out of $DAYJOB.

So, erm, what is going on? I haven't been able to access any comicgen sites at all today. Did Wolf say he fixed it, or am I incapable of understanding English?
It would be nice if the sitestats problem was fixed along with this problem. The stats haven't properly represented my taffic for practically the entire month of May.

Okay, I got it back limping up, but it looks like there's alot of things broken in the move. I'm still piecing things back together.

I can't get on with Smartftp either right now ... so I just uploaded comics worth until the end of the month through site admin. By then everything should be up and running again smoothly (here's hoping)Uncaringmachine wrote:Does all of this affect me being able to use Smartftp? It won't let me upload any comics, but I can access my comic page now.
