Heavens, no. That would imply I have any control over the powers of inspiration. Random ideas have recently included a light, funny story about returning the sun to the sky and a dark horror about a buried god and a dead man - neither of which are the usual fare that I normally choose to write.

But what is this inspiration controlled by, other than your temper and subconsciousness?
Whatever films have been seen recently, for the most part.

Lately nudity's become more 'fashionable' in films, if Saw III and Casino Royale are to be believed.

Inspiration is like rolling a dice. Yes, in theory, you can predict what's going to happen and track back everything that affected the dice to an origin, stating loudly that "If you had breathed slower, it would have rolled a six!".

However, in practice the entire mess of events that came together to bring the dice with the number one upwards is such a tangled four dimensional mess of billions of causes and effects that you might as well just shrug and say it's random.

It doesn't help that inspiration is a trillion-sided die either.

I wouldn't want to have graphic sex or violence in my comic. I might imply it, but I'd rather not draw it in great detail.

After starting one comic, I wanted the girl dragon to have "boobs". But then after a while, I just got her a flat chest. Do female dragons have boobs anyway?? The only things I use now are fart jokes with the word "fart" of course and four letter curse words but with the rest of the word asterixed out.

I wouldn't want a lot of things in my comic. I'm barely using swear words and that's as far as I'll go right now.

Yeah, but i may not write only one story.

Example: SDXF wants to be, for the most part, lighthearted and humorous, so really strong content just wouldn't fit (although there still is a mild level of violence and swearing).
Menagerie, on the other hand, wants to be gritty: in the previous script one characters was goign to get stabbed in the eye with a fork and an other would have been clubbed to death with an out-of-ammo shotgun. Both scenes were planned to be very strong, 'cause it made sense for them to be so. The new version of the comic will have a rather explicit sex-scene. Again because it has a reason to be there.

So, yeah, i'll do it if the story requires that. And, while i'm the one who chooses the story, i don't want to push it in a direction that doesn't make sense.

I wouldn't shy away from the offer of a free pie.

And bad language is always outmatched with the use of nonsense swearing. like "snickerbees" "crumbfondler" "Horse exhibition" or even "Crispy hutsman"

Swearing is to Toy Division is as guns are to Batman.

There are a lot of things I wouldn't do in my strip, mostly because it's rated Web14 and my mother reads it. Are there things I wouldn't do at all? I don't know... part of me thinks it would be fun to do a pornographic comic someday.

I believe that inspiration is a dice where some numbers appear multiple times, while others are there only once or even, unknown to you, aren't there at all.

Ah I dunno, I've got the overall plot figured out in my mind but each indevidual part of it just comes as I write it (Im a ciirrrrcular thinker~~).

It really all depends on how each story plays out in the long run, the only thing im opposed to is making a character act in a manner they wouldn't, violence will be inherant to the series despite that the characters don't want it, and sexuality is something that comes natural to PEOPLE in general, though as inteligent people we can go against our nature (and find many ways to justify it).

I won't draw porn. I do use swear words for certain characters though because some people talk like that. Verismilitude if you will.

Busta and McDuffies are all over this thread.

There are places where I took the sissy route that would've been more effective with a more courageous approach. And there are spots where I stepped out of my comfort zone and now regret it. I guess in the end you just gotta be mindful for what works in what situation. Still, I do feel like I could stand to push my boundaries a bit more.

Swearing doesn't need to have power. Could be used just for the color.

That's why I use them.

It can be effective for a character that never swears to use one at a specific moment. Anyone seen Misery? Kathy Bates never swears and uses cutesty replacements for swear words (which is funny because she's evil). But at the very end she says lots of bad words in that final battle with James Caan.

i generally don't use swearing, it's not because i like to 'keep it clean' it's just that i don't find any point to put it into dialogue. That said, Kids DO read my comic, this i know.. so i like to keep it clean for their sake..

that said, i personally swear... a lot.. generally under my breath.. :P

The only thing that keeps me from doing an erotic comic is what my friends and close ones would think of me. I kinda been thinking about doing one under a fake name, though.
