First off- thank you so much to the lovely admins who keep everything running, I know the server is having lots of issues lately. So, thank you, guys.
I also figure, that it helps to have notice of a problem before things are heinously backed up. So, I'm currently getting this error message, when I try to access SiteAdmin:
Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't create a new thread (errno 35); if you are not out of available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug in /bigdog1/space/siteadmin/public_html/mysql4.php on line 45
Could not connect to the Local database
Warning: mysql_query(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /bigdog1/space/siteadmin/public_html/mysql4.php on line 118
Genesis :
Error doing DB query userdata row fetch
Looks like probably a sad server space thing. Anyway- yeah.
It's about fluff, angst, drama, comedy, gaming. Come play in our world.
I know there was a big backup on the server yesterday, but in case this is unrelated or the extra info can help:
I'm having the same problem as GeekBlather with the same error message when attempting to get on to the SiteAdmin page (using Firefox and several inferior browsers). When trying to connect via FTP, I get
> USER crunchyoutside
< 331 User crunchyoutside OK. Password required
> PASS *****
< 530 Login authentication failed
despite double checking that my username and password are correct. After all, the password was able to log me in here.
audience= guys that are begining to get used to me not updating on time because of a comicgen hiccup. =D Besides, if they can't access the site as well, they'll never know you didn't update. hah. perfect.

;D Except for the fact that we're back online, SiteAdmin, FTP and all! Woo! (Although it appears that AutoKeen's backed up again. Eh, well.)
Backed up or stuck? It hasn't moved while I've been watching it?
"Yeah, that's the bridge pier (expletive). I thought it was the center. Oh (expletive)." ~ From the transcript of the recording device on board the ship which struck the San Franciso Bay Bridge last year, causing a 50,000 gallon oil spill.

Yeah, stuck is a better word. No movement as of now, either. Eh, it's better to at least have a comic at the other end of my links than not, so I'm not complaining.
I was able to access SiteAdmin last night long enough to upload something and trigger an update. But it appears it didn't take, since Friday's comic is still showing on the front page.

Same here. What's going on? We had clear sailing for months, but lately...
My audience runs about 200 visitors per day, with ~ 1000 page views per day. I hate disappointing them.
But I also have advertisers.
I REALLY hate disappointing them.
Ed is sad...
More fun than you should ever have in a laboratory. We are not related to the Bratz toy line owned by MGA.

Aye. And I had just started averaging about 150 visits a day.
I never really pay much attention to the number of visitors I have, but I doubt I get many, as I don't really advertise despite having over 100 pages up now. It's rather sad. I just update two pages a week regularly and leave it at that.
Okay, I got the database back up and working now. You should be able to FTP and Siteadmin in now. I'll go in and see what's going on with the drives as soon as I get back from $DAYJOB.
