kinda weird problem (4 year veteran is puzzled)

Post by Miru »

So.
I've been a Comicgenesis user for almost 4 years now (I'm the loon behind Return to Eden ) and am all in all happy about that. (Of the three 'main' webcomic hosts, comicgenesis is the host of choice for me =D )

Now since two/three days, I have this really weird problem, being that I can't, for the life of me, access ANY comicgenesis (e.g. my comic) or comicgenesis related (e.g. the comicgenesis wiki) page. (How I can access the Forums is beyond me, seeing as I can't access the siteadmin, either).
The FTP snubs me, as well (doesn't connect, I use WS_FTP LE )
The keenspot pages are very selective ( I can't access "Friendlyhostility" but "Darken" was ok).
I can't access them neither in firefox, nor in IE.
I changed neither the cookies settings in my browser, nor the firewall settings in the last days.

The browser tells me that either it can't find the server, or it takes too long to respond.
(I have ADSL with something like 3500 Kbit/s download)

Now to the weird:
-I asked friends if they could access comicgen and they were ok, EXCEPT for one that lives in the same country (He's got even better download speed than I do).
-However, I could access them on my campus' computers(that are, obviously, in the same country as I am =D, but I live off-campus).

I...just don't get it? What could it possibly be?
I'd be glad for every suggestion and idea, because I'd like to keep my comic where it is =)

[wild guess] Could be either a name server issue with the local exchange or it could be a connection problem between your local exchange and the LA exchange where the CG server is. [/wild guess]

Obviously I don't have a clue as to what I'm talking about. However, there doesn't seem to be a lot you can actually do about it, other than driving out of the county... maybe give your ISP a call and let them know about the problem on the extreme possibility that they don't know about the problem and also care enough to try and fix it.

Does 66.220.2.7 work? (should give, "Thanks for trying to connect by IP, yada yada yada.)

If it does, you can fiddle with your hosts file as a stop gap measure. If it doesn't... well, then there's far more questions than i'm prepared to ask at this hour.

In either case, you'll most likely want to call your internet provider.

Thank you very much for you kind replies.
I tried again this morning before leaving for Uni, and the comicgenesis sites were, again aviable, the FTP worked, but this time around, the forum didn't (I'm on campus again).
It's more weirdness than I can take.

The main guess that it's my provider kind of irks me, because they have the Worst Customer Service Ever Wittnessed. *sigh* I just hope it'll fix itsself.
anyway, thank you for your time, and if it doesn't work again, I'll try to figure out your way, c.w.
