I just got back from the theater.
My ultimate problem was that I have been anticipating this movie for so long, that it couldn't live up to my expectations. So I have to give it an A instead of an A+.
It falls into the trap as the Schumacher Batman films in that too many villains tend to be more of a curse than a blessing. Still, awesome effects.
There's a very disturbing trend, with both Spider-Man and Batman, that they feature a lot of death.

Venom = sweet as all hell
Sandman = very true to form from the comics
Goblin = truly well done, with some nice twists and Osborn goodness
Peter/MJ love story = so like in the early comics
Gwen Stacy = nicely done
There's one thing that I'm irked about that's a bit of a spoiler:BOTH STACEYS LIVED! What the hell man? They're like the Kennedys of Marvel! Death stalks them at every turn yet both of them persisted on living! UNACCEPTABLE SAM RAIMI! KILL THE STACEYS!!
I could have lived with less cheesieness, but that's Peter Parker. He's a nerd, he doesn't know cool, so it actually works.
Overall, I approve of this movie and will be buying it and watching it many many times. Plus if this IS the last one then I think they ended on a good note.

WOOO HOOOOO!!!!!
I'd like number 4 to be a good old fashioned villain tussle. No connections to the past, no twists and turns of backstories connecting the dots. Give me a good old fashioned rumble with someone like...Mysterio. Or Electro. Any A or B list villain who's got no REAL connection to Spidey, then to actually move the plot along.....let's bring back Norman. We know that the Goblin formula gives healing (Harry's wounds heal REAL fast with no scarring), closed casket, the butler seems to know an AWFUL lot about the details of the Goblin gear, and it's what happens in the comics. Not to mention Norman doesn't really resurface in the comics until towards the end of Harry's life.
It's a nice way to restablize everyone after all the stuff from 3, maintains menace, but also keeps things simple.

Kraven and the Lizard.
That's what I want in number four.
SPOILERS:
Am I the only one who wants Pete and Harry to team up for their own series in-comic? Because the fight scene where Harry helped out was completely awesome, especially since the script finally had wisecracks in it. It finally had the same feel as a Spidey fight scene in the comic books.
And Bruce Campbell is the man.

Bruce Campbell is indeed the man. I can't stop repeating "I'm really French, you know!"
It was good, but I felt that the second was a better movie, even if this did actually do well with the character arcs. Emo or "Myspace" Parker as my brother refers to him was worthy of giggles, though his anger really shined through.
My only real complaint is not enough of the Venom face and mask. Come on, it's what we want! ^_^

They obviously took lessons learned from the first movie to heart, for all of the characters who wore masks they didn't actually wear masks that much.
Yeah, Harry shows up, his mask flips back, and then proceeds to get in a high speed mid-air fight getting sand in his face. Yeah, real smart.

The Parker nerd-out was just....wrong but funny.
Also had a issue with a couple of the camera angle shots. One where the first fight with Sandman. Very jiggly. The second was the ending talk with the Aunt and Parker. Close up of one, the other was nothing but a blur. And vice versa. Was annoying.
Overall I enjoyed it.

In the comics Harry is dead. While there are points where he does do some good with the Goblin stuff, he generally goes back and forth on being crazy and normal. He finally dies (I believe from a drug OD) and Norman resurfaces shortly thereafter. However, there's no reason they couldn't revist the early years and do a story about that!

I thought the funniest part of the movie was when Peter hit MJ, and amidst the horrified gasps, some guy in the movie theatre yelled "THAT'S RIGHT, PETER!"

Ah. I was pretty sure that was the case, but Norman Osborn has a revolving door in his crypt, and I barely follow most of the comics, so for all I know, he might have been alive.Laemkral wrote:To answer, also a spoiler:Legendary wrote: SPOILERS:

He's still alive in Ultimate continuity, and it might be nice to see that make a substantial departure from the 616 universe.
