How long did it take for your comic to get popular?

For discussions, announcements, non-technical questions and anything else comics-related or otherwise that doesn't fit in any of the other categories.

I'm so popular it hurts! No not really, but people I know read it and bug the hell out of me when I update. And that is what I like. :D

I'm so popular that everyone bugs me to update it when I go on random month-long hiati!

everyone being my friends, room mates, and mom.

I'm averaging around 200 visitors a day. I'm pretty happy with that considering I only update once a week.

We've only been going about a month but have been doing pretty well. Hardly at the aformentioned level of popularity, but by all means we are doing well.

What is this "popular" of which you speak?

(Translation . . . if my stuff was already popular, I wouldn't be here).

Is it the "Hit" or "Visit" stat that I'm looking for to tell how many people come to my site?

Either way, I don't think I'll ever be popular.

It's the "visit" one.

As stated before, the basis of popularity lies very heavily in advertising and pandering to the public. There are a lot of good comics out there that are completely unknown, because the writers never even signed themselves up for comic-promotion sites like OnlineComics.net. There are also a lot of really crappy comics out there that are popular just because their writers spam everything, or because they use super-kawaii-magical-alien-ninja-catgirl-mechas.

So don't think that it reflects on you, eitehr way. You do this because you love it. Fans are just dessert.

Thanks, I just write/draw my comic 'cause I have a story to tell, but I'd like to know there's at least a few people that read it. Either way, it won't stop me from doing more comics once I'm done with my first.

I do not consider mines is popular at all. I call it a cult hit since my hits are random each month whether its 100 then the next month its 120-130 then down are 100-110. Happen to notice hits for this month is down big time.

Except for the occasional wild spike of a thousand in a day (when something big happens, like announcement of the FCBD book or similar), my readership stays at a nice regular mumble-some-number-mumble. I'd rather have more people posting comments than currently do, though. (I only just recently started the CG message forum, so most comments are on lj.) But to be honest I haven't made any real effort to encourage people to comment, so as long as they keep reading and the monthly average stays consistent, I'm relatively happy.

It's been a while since I've checked my logs. I'm sure they're about the same as a year ago...

It's the month anniversary of my permanent hiatus... 2 months since I actually stopped updating it. I still have 77 visits a day. Poor souls, still clinging on.

I've got a decent amount of readers, but unfortunately not many actually comment. The few I do get make it worth it though. :D

And as long as my numbers for the current month are higher than the numbers of the previous month, I can't complain.

I have enough visits so that I know I can't be responsible for all of them, as of right now that's good enough for me.

You mentioned in your news notes that you're going to a convention soon. I bet you see a spike in visits after that, so then it'll just be a matter of keeping people coming back. I recommend having a strip with naked ninja gamer furry chicks the day after the convention.
