Is it the "Hit" or "Visit" stat that I'm looking for to tell how many people come to my site?
Either way, I don't think I'll ever be popular.

It's the "visit" one.
As stated before, the basis of popularity lies very heavily in advertising and pandering to the public. There are a lot of good comics out there that are completely unknown, because the writers never even signed themselves up for comic-promotion sites like OnlineComics.net. There are also a lot of really crappy comics out there that are popular just because their writers spam everything, or because they use super-kawaii-magical-alien-ninja-catgirl-mechas.
So don't think that it reflects on you, eitehr way. You do this because you love it. Fans are just dessert.

Thanks, I just write/draw my comic 'cause I have a story to tell, but I'd like to know there's at least a few people that read it. Either way, it won't stop me from doing more comics once I'm done with my first.

Except for the occasional wild spike of a thousand in a day (when something big happens, like announcement of the FCBD book or similar), my readership stays at a nice regular mumble-some-number-mumble. I'd rather have more people posting comments than currently do, though. (I only just recently started the CG message forum, so most comments are on lj.) But to be honest I haven't made any real effort to encourage people to comment, so as long as they keep reading and the monthly average stays consistent, I'm relatively happy.
It's been a while since I've checked my logs. I'm sure they're about the same as a year ago...

You mentioned in your news notes that you're going to a convention soon. I bet you see a spike in visits after that, so then it'll just be a matter of keeping people coming back. I recommend having a strip with naked ninja gamer furry chicks the day after the convention.jameslong wrote:i'm going the right direction, at least...
