Dude. I had an idea. Is it legal?

Post by Thievery »

Here's my shtick. I've had a webcomic for over two years, but I find myself slipping recently. It's not like I don't want to draw comics, it's that I can't. I just don't have the time anymore for a story. But I don't want to lose my only contribution to society. So I had an idea...

Make a new site. Use it as an advertisment for other comics. Like, I have a few friends who have comics not hosted on CG. I, with their permission, would post the first chapter or so on my site, providing links to the artist at every opportuity, and so on.
I would keep my own stories on there as well, in archives, but my work wouldn't be the main focus any more. That way, I wouldn't feel guilty at not being able to provide comics as often, and I could give something back at the same time.

This way, I could still draw when I can, but people have something more important to read in front.

Is this all legal? I've looked in the TOS and I don't see anything that says I can't, because I will give all credit to whom it's due.

What do you all think?

AFAIK, it's ok. People routinely come here to ask questions and mention at some point that their site is handled by someone who isn't the comic's author. As long as you have permission from the actual creator of the work, knock yourself silly posting comics.

ya - a comic site doesn't have to be a one-man show... many CG comics are done by multiple people (some writing, some drawing, some inking, some coding the webpage) - although from what I see its mostly oneman shows, but still
