Orlando is three hours away from me, so I think I definitely could go. Should be fun. Yup, I volunteer to do a presentation, comic form, or live, either way. I'll email Ryan then.

I would like to do a comic presentation, but I have tried contacting this dude and heard nothing.

Has this been all settled already?

Hi all! Ryan is back! He's been working on some website issues and was out of contact for a while, but he is back now. So he's going to get started on organizing presenters right away, so watch for more info coming soon.

Still no response whatsoever.

I am saddened.

If Barb isn't allowed to do a presentation comic, I shall be very sad. :)

Ryan Estrada posted a call-out to would-be presenters in his blog; it's filled up pretty quickly with volunteers, but you may still be able to sneak in. (He also mentioned that several WCCA-related e-mails were lost, so that might explain the lack of a reply.)

Thanks for the info. But I'll pass. I posted several times here, sent him emails and to Chris Crosby...I put enough effort into expressing interest in this that I am done. This blog was completely unknown to me, so like most webcomic things- the opportunities tend to go to the folks who have the time to know what is going on and search out all these blogs, which is time I do not have.

Thanks agian for the info,

Barb

I'm thoroughly disappointed that my emails were lost.

Oh well. Next year, perhaps.

This is unfortunate. I don't blame you at all for throwing your hands up in the air. Seems silly that a half-assed "artist" like me is doing a presentation while someone with your talent was skipped over.

I'm sure your being overlooked has everything to do with organizational problems on the part of the WCCA and absolutely nothing to do with your artistic skill.

Presentations for 2008 Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards

Post by Sharpclaw »

Will there be online presentation comics for the 2008 Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards? If so, then how do we volunteer to draw a presentation?

I would like to do one this year. I drew one for the 2006 Web Cartoonists' Choice Awards, but missed 2007.

You should probably let someone on the committee know directly that you're offering to do presentations. They may not check this forum very often. But the nomination round has been bumped from the 4th to the 7th, so the event is being tended to, I guess.

So... does anyone have ideas for attempting to get the word out? I don't know any steady webcomic-makers myself, and a non-creator like me posting in the general forums here or on Keenspot would feel like stepping on Mark's toes, you know?
In order to clearly see what is in the shadows, you must first enter them.
