I have a very hard time writing the "real" world. I always want to include some element of the fantastic, or the mystical, or some kind of philosophical jargon that looks beyond the "real" world and whatnot, be it some hobo who's a ninja or a wisened old man who's really a wizard or an alien. Real life is just... too real for me.

Oh, I have that problem. It's just too boring otherwise. Irrespective of what we can write, there'll still be personal genre preferences that factor in to what we do write.

I can't write gag a day. I've tried. Eventually I run out of jokes that work on their own and have to build characters to create humor.

It might be a bit pretentious of me to say, but I think that I can't write conventional stuff. Stuff that slides along the stereotypes of genre and all, I always have to add something unusual, even bizzare along the way.
I don't thinki I'd be good in action, my action would be boring. But then, most of action comic writers have the same problem.
Other than that, I tried to do just about everything, it's a sort of testing my abilities. But then again, everything I do lies on the same principles.

Comedy.

i can do dry wit and sarcasm, but that's in an incidental sense, i can't churn out something that's funny consistently.

Definitely romance. Even when I've tried to write it in prose, my results are decidedly lacking.

You should try gay romance. Guys don't give other guys cooties, after all.
This is going in my notebook titled "Things I Didn't Know about Surface Dwellers."

My ears are burning...

For me, it's long-form story comics. I don't have the attention span. Gag-a-days I've always been able to do without running out of ideas, but stories involve a lot more work. Cooties is my first attempt at writing one, and it's a fun challenge.

Sex.

I have a difficult time writing sex into stories when it's called for, without it either being too weak a scene or too graphic a scene. So I end up doing the "the following morning the characters are sharing a bed and have to get dressed so obviously they were naked, and probably had sex" thing. :-?

When I was younger I liked superhero-type stuff, but I couldn't write it to save my life (couldn't draw it all that well, either).

I don't think I could write action-adventure or fantasy very well, either, but those genres don't particularly appeal to me these days so I wouldn't have any interest in writing them anyway.

I think I would like to write a mystery (something like McDuffies' "Kill 'Er Now") but I don't think I'd be very good at it.

Gag-a-day I could do, and did do years ago, but I eventually found it boring.

However you'd describe what I'm writing now is what I'm good at. Whatever it is.

Probably romance, though I've never really tried.
"Real-life" or "serious" stuff is difficult. Mostly I find it boring to do.

I've never really been good with gag strips.

Gamer comics.

I am bad at writing period, but I can't write things with an optimistic setting. At all. There has to be implied violence/gore/etc XD

I can't write stories in a fantasy setting. Every time I try, it comes out unbearably cheesy.

I can't write gag a day, I've tried, you will never see them, ever.
Action i have trouble with.
I'm not even good at much comedy within a story either >_>
science fiction is a no go
Drama is hard
Horror no way
So I suppose it's easier just to say what I can write.

I can write romance...and nothing else apparently....

I've never been able to write "normal" things (like a few other people mentioned). Not that it's been much of a problem for most of my writing experiences, but when I took a playwriting class in college to fill some requirement or another, I just couldn't do anything that didn't have some strange element or another in it. (My favorite being one that ended up surprisingly close to the plot of Monsters Inc before that one ever came out...)

Lately... I don't write much. Not even my own comic. I don't think I could do both the writing and the art on it...

I've never tried, but I probably couldn't write surreal stuff, 'cause I despise it so much. I'd maybe get halfway through a chapter before my hands would revolt and start throttling me to save my readers.
