...and I mean revelation as in end of the world

Post by Cope »

It couldn't possibly be as much of a revelation as Manos: Hands of Fate, could it?

The worst film of all times can't possibly be something that is bad enough to be entertaining. Because if it's entertaining, it can't be the worst, not with all those boring mediocre films that are being made all the time.

So I vote Titanic.

I'd argue that if it's unintentionally entertaining, then it doesn't count. So... Plan 9 from Outer Space, it is. Although, to be honest, it stopped unintentionally entertaining me after about five minutes and the rest was just painful to sit through.

There are quite a few movies in the public domain that are even worse, they are just not yet getting the bad publicity they deserve. For example Sex Madness or The Snow Creature...

Poor public, not being legally entitled to refuse to own anything nobody else wants. XD

My vote goes to Manos. It's just not entertaining at all, it's a total lack of entertainment, like a void in your day. It does nothing. It goes nowhere. And yet you still get a full 30 seconds of Torgo carrying bags from one place to another with four notes of music on repeat.

Aaaargh.
Yes, Manos IS worst.

I have the MSTK DVD with both Manos and Santa Claus vs. Martians on it. And I have Plan 9. And 'Jesus Christ, Vampire Hunter'.

...boy, my DVD collection sucks. :)

I'll have to second the vote for Manos. All the others have their moments, but Manos has none. Why SC vs. Martians beats all the others on production and set quality alone (a sad statement, but true.)

Manos is terrible. Even with the MST3K commentary, I find it difficult to watch.

At least we get Torgo out of it.

Heh. You know, until I looked it up today, I always thought MST3K was a video game or something. With an E inverted to look like a 3 to make it look hip or something. :P

It took me a while to figure that out too. But precious context has shown me the way!

Turkish cheap action flicks are pretty close. I vote "Lion man".

I heard of something called Turkish Star Wars, but I've not seen it myself. Supposedly it's a ripoff of Star Wars, but has actual footage of Star Wars spliced in.

I clearly need to watch more movies. Or maybe not.

You've all thought up some pretty bad movies, but I'm giving an honorable mention to "American Wedding," which is the first movie of recent memory in which the best part wasn't even worth watching, and for which I actually wanted a refund of the rental price.

I throw my vote behind Manos.

But if we're going for lamest character: Zap Rowsdower from The Final Sacrifice.
I set my ATM card's number to "0001" because I'm number one!

Oh, I've seen Turkish star Wars. The fact that they democratically used footage from Star Wars and music from Indiana Jones is just the beginning of it. It's directed and acted by the same actor as "Lion man", who is supposedly a big star there. Actual footage was used in the introduction where outside shots are intersected with cuts of two main characters supposedly in spaceships.
Then they crash on an unknown planet and randomly encounter monsters who are people dressed in gorilla suits, and simple-minded inhabitants in rural willages where, of course, two pilots have romances with native girls.
I should mention that both pilots are middle-aged men with lotsa gray hair.
Anyways, there's a lots of special effects, like pilots pulling monster's heads and arms off with their bare hands, then sticking the pulled-off arm right through the monster's heart, again with the strength of bare hands. The favourite effect is created by pilots jumping on a trampoline, and as trampoline doesn't get into the frame, we have that the pilots are capable of jumping two meters into the air and right onto the monsters. They are also capable of lifting heavy rocks and throwing them like if they were of rock-coloured styrofoam.
In the end, the main characters finds some artefacts - not sure which that was, but eventually he gets them molded into the big giant metal glove which is capable of swinging an enemy far into the distance. Imagine action scenes in which one character defeats all the others by beating them up with a giant hand.
I think that guy has a sorta thing for that kind of stuff. "Lion man" is a superhero who also used some special gloves that closely resembled boxing gloves, with which he could beat people up or catch arrows if someone was to shoot them at him.

I LOVE THE FINAL SACRIFICE!!! It's my favorite MST3K episode. They riffed that movie to perfection, even though it was pretty terrible on its own. Seriously, what kind of writer names their drunken hero Zap Rowsdower...

You got mud on your face, you big disgrace, shoving those sandwiches into your face...singing we will, we will ROWSDOWER!
