Also, how would a broken arm prevent attending the wedding? Especially the father of the bride? A broken leg I could see, but an arm seems like awfully minor in this case.

It's broken in a place where he can't even get a cast
He can't leave the house much less take a plane or drive a car
His other hand on his not broken arm is disabled as a birthdefect(his fingers are basically little nubs) so driving and so on is even more out of the question
He can't even sleep laying down
He lives in north carolina, i am in louisiana, my wedding is in 12 days he broke it less than a week ago.
