Hope

I find it interesting to see the reactions to the "Hard Onions" strips.

Where some find fear and others preaching, I see hope.

And I see someone explaining his worldview. If anything, I found it interesting. So far, at least.

Yes, religion can be hope for people. It can also be a way to keep the people cowed, and a way to control a people, and any number of other things.

For him, it is hope.

And whether or not we share a religion (we don't), I'm happy for him. He knows his place in the universe because of his religion - correction, let's call it the better term - his FAITH, and that helps him. And gives him, and others, hope.

I can see why some people wouldn't like the recent spate of "Hard Onions" strips.

I kinda like them. Gives some insight into where the author is coming from--as did the discussions that came from them. (I never knew Ralph was the son of a preacher--but it explains a lot)
^ the above was me sounding like I know WTF I'm talking about.

Faith can move mountains, as the old saying goes. ...or at least enable one man (with the occasional volunteer help and donated materials) to build a cathedral with a 40 meter tall dome: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/5381710.stm

Which was kinda the point.
Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?' John 11: 25-26
