You know, this reminds me that everyone I drew used to look morbidly obese without me even realizing it. Yeah, my art needed some work then.... *ahem* still does.

Yeah, Claude, would it be a problem to break the sig someplace, please? Banners stuck one after the other stretch the page on 1024 resolution.
Sorry, didnt realise, my laptop works on 1024 res and there's no problem, the extended banners just shift to the next line down.

I'm like Kingpin with hair!! And glasses!!! I'm tempted to quote really old Spider-Man dialouge where he mocks people for thinking him fat when he's really strong.

okay I looked through a bunch of pictures (seems many don't just show how thin I am), so here's two from the same set, that show off my thinness.

second one is just so pretty to me I couldn't not post it.

i'm really trying not to be offended by this thread, but one thing that just keeps happening with no comment is what's offensive to me.

fat people do not *always* have food in thier hands/mouths/on thier clothes.

its like using a wrench to show someone's a mechanic, people use a chicken drumstick to show someone as fat. its something i find offensive, becaue i am fat, but i don't eat more than my skinny friends. some skinny friends eat twice what i do. its genetics. unless you typically draw skinny people with watermelon juice all over thier shirts, why should you draw a fat person that way? also, not all fat people are slobs. we're not all lazy. i would think that this would be more challenging to draw someone fat without sinking to the lowest common denominator to say "see? drumstick and mess? they're fat". sorry, i just had to get that out.

and if you want to see good cute fat girls, just visit stinky's work.

(and for those of you saying "who the f*ck is this person ranting on our parade?" i'm a past poster who visits every so often, and am good friends with stinky, nanda and skunkadoo)

I can see how that might be sensative Dreams, but I don't think it's a valid criticism of the thread either (although certainly something for NJ to keep in mind I'm sure). 2 out of 4 pictures have featured them with food, messy or otherwise and in both cases it was appropraite to the joke/image. In eschuchion's case he's clearly got the chainsaw murderer look going on and being spattered in blood is just a part of that, the fact that it's from his meal (presumably) rather than a victim is just part of the joke. And phactorri's eating watermelon, and if you don't make a mess when eating watermelon then you're doing it wrong.

I think you certainly have a point but it doesn't apply to this thread.

I don't know that I agree with you there, Orion. Two out of four is half the images posted, and while I'm sure no malice was intended, half the images do portray fat people eating and covered in food. So while I'm still not personally offended, I don't think you're correct in saying that Dreams' criticism is invalid. What she's offended by is represented in half of the images posted (not even counting the original images in the first post, which are also guilty of this). That they're "part of the joke" doesn't really change anything, I'm afraid. You could draw people's characters in blackface, eating fried chicken and only intend it as part of a joke, and certain people are still going to get offended. That's the risk you take when creating a thread like this.

No hard feelings, I hope.

I think you may misunderstand my point, by 'part of the joke' I meant it was due to some element of the image than the fact that they're overwieght (eschuchion's psycho killer look, the watermelonness of watermelon). And in general I don't think 2 images is enough to claim that all overweight people are being tarred with the same brush. I think it's a good thing Dreams mentioned it, because NJ has already said she really wants to avoid offending anyone and I'm sure she'll keep it in mind with any future requests, I just think that it's not appropraite to take offense at it.

i would be amused to see an obese lego person.. i.e. me... food really couldn't be involved there being as a lego person doesn't really eat per sae.
