I've talked to my ROTC course director. They're already talking and briefing us on that summer, which is kinda freaky in its own way. Anyways, they're asking when we want to go, and I've mentioned this, and it looks like I can swing it pretty easily. So definitely count me in, and if we need to start a "Help a Poor Artist Fund" I'll probably also be able to swing a few $$ that way too.

NOTICE:
I know we haven't done much with this since the start of September. October (the rest of it) is about shot - while we will gather information and respond to the lady about our desires for food at the cookout, my birthday is coming up and we have family coming into town. That's gonna shoot a weekend.
So expect at the start of November, to see some big changes.
For those who want to know how much to save for rooms, we already covered that - $65 per night. If you get people to share the cost, that cost goes down. You are not required to have people share your room... I'm just saying is all. We will give booking information shortly so you can begin reserving them - we have 20 rooms reserved, you just call the hotel and claim one. We can get more.
The cost for the cookout... assume it'll be $35 a person. One time fee thing. It may go down, it will not go up. We'll be accepting cash once I get the page up - there'll be a form, which will save me a ton of headaches.
As for the 'get a person to the cookout fund'. It'll be set up sometime in November too - don't suggest candidates yet, I'll just forget 'em.

Yeah, but I think that applies more for US residents. I hardly expect you guys to spend half the fund to fly me over :SIan Moulding wrote:Before people panic about funds or lack of, don't forget that A) This is several months away, so there's lots of time to plan and B) There is the Ship A Broke Artist To St. Louis Fund. Don't drop out of the cookout yet.
As a question, who lives on the East coast? It would of course be cheaper to fly there (there are some tickets to Florida, for example, at 1/10th of the regular flight cost, but this is a limited offer, don't know how long it lasts). But I digress. Point is it's cheaper (thus easier) for me to fly to somewhere on the E.C. rather than fly in close to St Louis... so the question is, is anyone driving to S.L. from the E.C. with whom it would be possible to hitch a ride?
I confused MYSELF in that paragraph, sorry

I live on the East Coast, and I flew to St. Louis last year.
The trip would be roughly 1000 miles, so you're talking about a 2 or 3 day car trip (depending on how long the drive is each day) just to get there. And, of course, the 2-3 day trip to return east. So you're looking at a week long trip (or longer) all put together. And you have to factor in the extra hotel rooms and meals and gas on top of all that.
Seriously, I think you'd be better off flying directly to St. Louis. Or, if the pricing works out, take the cheaper flight to the US and then switch to a smaller (cheaper) airline for the rest of the trip.

but... 18 dollars in the bank means I'm not going.
If Misty and I do go, it will be by train. Which upon looking up prices some how found it cheaper to leave from Rhode Island than it did New Jersey... but that is so far.
