Heroes
What did you kids think about this show? Overall, I liked it. The premise definitely has potential but I found most of the characters to be annoying cliches: snobby cheerleader, loving mother stripper, little kid super genius, tortured artist drug addict, everyman nobody with big dreams, evil corprortion that seems to know everything. The exception to this is the Japanese guy, Hiro. I guess he could be classified as an everyman nobody too, but I just found his segments to be more entertaining.
I had pretty much decided the show would be a mediocre predictable affair when they threw in that little twist during the last few minutes. I have to admit, I was duped. So I'll be checking it out for the next few weeks at least.

Speak for yourself-I've never smelled like tinkled sheets. I actually think the tinkled sheet smell only applies to 50%.
Anyway, what do you think of the show since the last few episodes? I like it. Its kind of complicated, but different. I'm wondering if Nathan can project his powers onto someone else.

Ok, I have to admit that I did not see last week's episode, so I only saw the first two. After the second one, I felt the same as I did when I saw the first one: It's a decent show, with potential, but some of the characters are just annoying. After the second episode I was a little more interested in the cheerleader and I liked the new cop character. But whenever they cut to the main guy (Nathan?) I wanted to change the channel. I hate that guy. Boring stupid baby. And I was happy to see that the artist was dead (although that's in the future). I still don't like the stripper too.
Like I said, I didn't see episode 3, but it would make sense for Nathan to get the powers of those around him. They're setting him up as the main guy and flying on its own seemed weak as far as main guy super powers go. Using everyone else's abilities is pretty good though, and seems to match up against the bad guy which leads to my theory:
I think the bad guy eats the brains or something of other super people and gets their powers. Either that or he's got a gang of super villians. I say this because that crime scene displayed 2 powers, freezing and uh sticing people to walls with kitchen untensils.

Ooooo, good call. I'm going with the first one since the head was spliced open at two crime scenes. I'm with you about Peter-he is lame. However, I don't hate the stripper. Okay, yeah, stripper with heart of gold, yeah, yawn, yeah, but an evil alter ego-interesting. Who even knows if she is good or evil? I think they start to come together next week.

All right, I liked last night's episode. The cheerleader stuff was good and I like future Hiro.
Now that I'm caught up, here are my theories:
Peter can use the powers of others, that seems kind of obvious now. Nathan can fly, he could be the bad guy, but I don't think so.
Is Siler someone we've seen? I do not know.
I'm definitely getting more into this.

Sylar was in last week's episode. Apparently, he is one of the original "special" ones but he is a serial killer. It seems like he has the power to read minds, fly, make people do things, and is indestructable. i haven't figured out what his connection is to the rest of the characters.
I wish some of the heroes would figure out their powers though. Nicki in particular frustrates me. I can't figure out if her alter ego is bad or good.I also was annoyed about the Claire thing. I mean, she hops off of an autopsy tasble, walks out of the morgue, and no one notices? There's no story looking for the missing body of the unknown cheerleader? A little unbelievable. I did like her method of revenge.
I disagree with you about Nathan. I think he is a prick, but not necessarily a villain. I see him as a typical ambitious politician who will do anything to get ahead but I don't think he's evil. I think he is trying to ignore his powers and be normal, and lashes out at anyone who reminds him that he isn't. Claire's creepy dad on the other hand, hes' the bad one. I'm trying to decide if he is linked to Syler or if he is a government person looking to study the heroes.

Woo! other topic revivals!!
Its funny, tonight was the first time I watched an episode all the way though...I don’t know why. I've gotten enough second hand info and seen a few parts of episodes so I had a decent idea of what was going on. I think I was just working on Monday nights, so I missed it until recently. But I freaking liked this show. I'll have to watch next week and see what happens...maybe on my next day off I'll go and rent season one or something (that’s out right?)
I pray that they don’t try to drag it out forever like they're doing with Lost...I watched the show at first, but it just lost me when they started to run in circles and not explain anything. All shows that have an honest to god plot shouldn’t be renewed in seasons, only episodes...that way they keep if from going on and on with crap that never gets solved. Then canceled with no real conclusions...pissing off everyone. I'm looking at you Dark Angel
Of course I just got back into Smallville...that season where they made Lana a witch or something just sucked the good right out of the show. You ever watch it? I'm not a big Super Man fan, but hey.
I think that’s why I like Anime...they know where they're going and it'll eventually have a conclusion. There are exceptions...but usually those are the crap ones that I can’t tolerate for more then one or two seasons.

My main beef with Heroes early on was how slow it was going and how it seemed like there were whole episode where nothing happened. Watching the whole thing through on DVD is probably a good way to cut down on that feeling.
Running a series into the ground is one of the many thing that sucks about Network television. If they're popular they'll stay on forever. Seinfeld was a rare exception to that I guess. But I think Heroes has the kind stuff going on where it can stay fresh for a while.
My favorite show, the Wire, is suppossed to end after season 5...but Sopranos was suppossed to end a while ago too right?
I wonder if Avatar the Last Airbender has a planned end. You figure either this season (the fire book) or if there's a fourth season (wind book?) would be the last season right? But the show is PRETTY popular.

Yeah, I've noticed that when shows seem to drag its nice to be able to fast forward. Cuts down on the suck.
I did like that Seinfeld ended before it dragged into the ground. Simpson’s is ending soon too, from what I hear...but they jumped the shark a year or two ago. That was the time for them to do a movie. South Park had the sense to capitalize on their popularity...
I don't have HBO...I don’t even have cable, so I can’t really have any opinion on the wire. But I love Avatar, I recently downloaded all the episodes and watched them, until that I hadn’t seen most of the episodes. I'd bet that they go for four, the Air Book will probably Aang fighting the Fire Nation, so I'd bet it goes on. I've heard that they're making a movie based on Avatar. Its live action so it could either suck or be great, personally I would have gone for animated, but I guess they got M. Knight Shamalan (sp?) to direct so I'd lean more towards it being decent.
I just hope they have enough sense to end it when they can, I don’t want them to keep going with it. That'll just ruin it. But it is freakishly popular, so I'd bet they'll kill it. Of course they ended Invader Zim...so Nick has proven that they don’t know a decent show when they have one.

Is this too late?
I don't want to kick a dead horse, but in Australia, the first season of Heroes ended, and I was fucking disappointed. Not only with the fact that the final battle was Hiro stabbing sylar then teleporting off like some pussy, but he didn't even kill Sylar. Also, why didn't Peter fly into the sky and explode himself? He has the powah, if not, Nathan could have flown into the sky thrown Peter, and flown away at supersonic speed, which he has done before. Stupid, stupid ending.
I stole my Avatar, and I'll never give it back.
