The worst show on TV?

That's my point. Where as MSS16 is has the average teenager going, "That would be cool, but that will never happen to me." Degrassi makes them go, "You know what, I'm sorta like that kid there. My life is exactly like this." and then run with it.

You may not have seen the show, but '12 oz. Mouse' makes the average viewer go, "MY EYES! OH GOD MY EYES! TURN THAT SHIT OFF! THERE'S VOMIT ON MY TELEVISION AND MY BRAIN IS HEMORRAGHING! PLEASE SOMEONE GIVE ME SHARPENED PENCILS FOR MY EYES!"



Seriously, '12 oz. Mouse' is Adult Swim's attempt to see how bad they can make a show and still have viewers. It's indescribably bad.

To reference another thread on this board..."Who wants to be a Superhero?" may be the most shoddy incompetant "reality show" yet...although it's actually entertaining in a "this show's a carwreck but I can't look away" sort of way.

I don't know, Degrassi is pretty over-the-top. Pregnancy, school shootings, drug use, probably bulimia...all handled with the subtlety of a jackhammer, and performed by the most annoying cast of tweens since Kids Incorporated (and they had Fergie). Like a lot of teen drama, the show is a funhouse-mirror version of how life is for "kids today". My Super Sweet 16 is just vapid, but at least it's a bit more grounded in reality. Sadly, those girls (and their parents' credit cards) do exist.

Ugh, I totally agree...I hate Degrassi and shows of their kind that are supposedly supposed to show people the real lives of teenagers and then proceed to give us a non-stop barrage of date rapes, teen pregnancies, drugs, shootings, gangs and of course sex sex sex and more sex! Now of course this stuff happens, but it's not all that happens, nor does this stuff happen to all kids, or even close to the majority. It's just so frustrating when these stupid shows then get lauded for how "real" they are. Bullshit...they're the daytime soap-opera version of teenage life.

That's kind of sad. I tried to watch that show once because I was bored, and I think I either passed out because of shock/disappointment, or fell asleep. All the people on that show are bad at acting, and they're ugly (to me, anyway).

My vote: Flavor of Love. It's on VH1. Basically, it's The Bachelor with a grody, old, washed up gangsta rapper as the target of the contestants affections. I can't see a single redeemed quality that would attract any discerning female to this individual. I pretty much pity everyone involved with that show, especially myself for having watched a few minutes of it.

Just cuz you're a rapper don't mean you're a gangsta rapper.

....though yeah, he is washed up.

Hmm...obviously I haven't seen enough of this latest incarnation of Degrassi...but I was always under the impression it was a show to educate kids about how to respond to these sorts of situations if or when they arose...

Maybe it's changed with everything else on modern television though...

My life as a teenager contained exactly none of the first five and precious little of the sixth activities you describe. In fact a show about my teenage years would be too real for the public to handle.

Episode 1: Boogiebop cries when Aeris dies in FF7

Episode 2: Boogiebop proclaims "that isn't real, i saw it in a movie. I think it was die hard" when faced with footage from the WTC attack.

Episode 3: Having burnt his porn collection Boogiebop is forced to masturbate over wedding photos of his distant family. He then cries in shame.

Episode 4: Episode 4 is never made, the show is ripped off the air and replaced with a reality show about gay gehotto gangsta cops performing home makeovers on a series of jailscells. The creator of 'Boogiebop's modern life' subsuquently cuts his own throat much to the relief of everyone involved.

Hm. I'm unfamiliar with most of those shows. But even Jackass was too much for me.
I do respect UK a lot for having laws that limit trash on tv and inforce a percentage of educational or constructive program. Though I don't know if such law is still active.

I haven't seen Family Guy in a while, so it possibly could have gotten worse, but it USED to be hilarious.

I never watched American Dad, but honestly, just the comercials made me think the show was stupid.

American Dad is basically the same as Family Guy (the cast of characters is almost exactly the same), except basically everyone in the show is hyper-conservative. It's supposedly a parody, but it doesn't seem like it most of the time.

I turned off the first episode after it turned into continuous gay-bashing.

Family Guy was a lot funnier when the random moments were kept to a minimum. A lot of the new ones rely on them way too much so the episodes seem really choppy. Old ones like the Christmas episode when Lois goes nuts is good, as well as the King and I episode. They really need to stop doing the forced monotone back and forth conversations that last an awkwardly long amount of time. They aren't really funny and are just frustrating to watch. Y'know, that gag when we keep talking? When they don't change their facial expressions? Uh huh? They just keep going on about something. Like how madona isn't popular anymore. Uh huh, yeah. They keep on going and going so they don't have to write anything else? Like that novel you never finished? Yeah, uh huh. Yeah, that one I just mentioned? Yeah? Oh yeah, that one.
