To reference another thread on this board..."Who wants to be a Superhero?" may be the most shoddy incompetant "reality show" yet...although it's actually entertaining in a "this show's a carwreck but I can't look away" sort of way.
I don't know, Degrassi is pretty over-the-top. Pregnancy, school shootings, drug use, probably bulimia...all handled with the subtlety of a jackhammer, and performed by the most annoying cast of tweens since Kids Incorporated (and they had Fergie). Like a lot of teen drama, the show is a funhouse-mirror version of how life is for "kids today". My Super Sweet 16 is just vapid, but at least it's a bit more grounded in reality. Sadly, those girls (and their parents' credit cards) do exist.
Ugh, I totally agree...I hate Degrassi and shows of their kind that are supposedly supposed to show people the
real lives of teenagers and then proceed to give us a non-stop barrage of date rapes, teen pregnancies, drugs, shootings, gangs and of course sex sex sex and more sex! Now of course this stuff happens, but it's not
all that happens, nor does this stuff happen to all kids, or even close to the majority. It's just so frustrating when these stupid shows then get lauded for how "real" they are. Bullshit...they're the daytime soap-opera version of teenage life.
