Just thought I'd post a few comments on R.O.D. #3
Overall, I liked it but it's still a continuation of the story which began in #2.
Yomiko is at a strange prep school, undercover as a teacher...although she rarely seems to teach anything. The Grade A kids and the lower class, Grade B kids are at war with each other.
Yomiko's mission is to find the secret underground library, which emerges like a monster and begins devouring everything in its path.
Most of this book delves into Yomiko's tragic past and the deep guilt she apparently still feels over what happened. A lot of the book has her powerless and wracked with guilt as the villain, her dead (or is he?)boyfriend's best friend.
There's an adversary introduced for the British Library, an order of Hermit Readers, who also seek out lost rare books. Hints are dropped that the Library isn't as beneficent as they seem.
Anyway, the book ends with the story still unresolved!
Yes, I like self contained stories and this is getting a bit drawn out.
I'm still curious to see how it all ends and the art is lovely, I just think the tale could be paced better is all.
It's still a good read but I liked volume #1 the most.
