"Mommy, why do you take half my paper route money and give it to the kid next door who sits on his butt and watches TV all day?"

"Why can't I ride in the car with Uncle Teddy?"
Yes, sir. I agree completely. It takes a well-balanced individual... such as yourself to rule the world. No, sir. No one knows that you were the third one... Solidus. ...What should I do about the woman? Yes sir. I'll keep her under surveillance. Yes. Thank you. Good-bye...... Mr. President.

Did you also notice that there is the same urban outdoorsman in every picture? And the portrayal of Republicans as rich, cigar smoking, snobs?

Wow. Just...wow. I remember when the NRA came out with their "Eddie Eagle" program, instantly attacked as propaganda mean to "train kids to kill" (in fact, it taught them to be safe around guns, including "don't touch, tell an adult").

This is far worse than anything Eddie Eagle was ever accused off. It veritably reeks of Pavlov.

I was at the California Republican Convention this last weekend, and I ran across this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0976726 ... eader-page

I found it highly amusing, but the reasons I didn't buy it were
a) I don't have children
b) I'd already spent most of my money on amusing bumper stickers and a no trespassing sign.

I was hoping this was done purely as a tongue-in-cheek satire, but the endorsements bother me a bit. Using children's books for indoctrination purposes really disgusts me, no matter whose side is doing it.

I only read the first few pages, but from the look of it, it seemed to be an explanation of how lower taxes=economic prosperity.

Perhaps in the interest of fairness / equal time we could round this out to a trilogy:

Why Daddy is a Republican:

"Because daddy thinks I should be responsible for my actions"

(What kind of picture could we draw here? I can think of several things from meaningful to downright despicable)

"Because daddy thinks that we should be able to work for our living"

(cheap shot, I'll admit...)

And to round it out:

Why Uncle Frobert is a Libertarian:

"Because the Magic Mushrooms can make everyone happy!"

(OK, I'll admit that was probably uncalled for :P :) )

More like Julius Streicher, actually:

Nazi anti-semitic children's propaganda. Very blatant and repeatative.

It's a pretty old book, I remember reading it in middle school. Basically, the way society works in this book is that at high school, people are set into different professions (pilot, birth mother, teacher, doctor etc), children aren't raised with their biological parents, etc.
In the society, people are euthanized for the following things (if I recall correctly):
1) if you're fired from your job (i.e., removed from your place in society)
2) if someone is too old (about 75)
3) terminally ill
4) if twins are born, the smaller of the two will be euthanized.

Absolutely right, and I apologize for not giving more warning. Julius Streicher was one of the Nazi propaganda machine's most prolific writers. (Thus the "Godwin's Law" comment... Godwin's Law states:

"As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

I was wrong to think that constituted a fair warning, and can only plead sleep deprivation as a defense.)

Yours apologetically,

The errant,

Wanderer
