The Nutcracker cracks nuts!!

Post by Nutcracker »

Finally, after 7 months I found the courage to pitch my comic:] The beginning is uh... like all beginnings -_-; I can't look at my old art without screaming in horror but don't be scared, the art keeps getting better.

The story is about Meg, the only mentally stable character in the comic. She's a calm, mature teenager living among idiots, dorks, cartoon bunnies drawn by herself and other strange creatures.

The Nutcracker is mostly a gag comic, with storylines. Updates every two days, but I'll get back to my 6/week schedule when I have more time.

*cough*Teammayhem's review

So, um... read The Nutcracker and feel free to use my shoutbox if you wanna... ya know, shout... and stuff...

Doo U like eet?

I admit I never got into Nutcracker the first few times I checked it out, but that was only because I was going through the newest pages, I didn't get the connections. Then I read it from the start a few months ago, everything fell into place in my stupid head and I laughed heaps. I really dig it, I've got to catch up on the newest strips :D

I'm late in posting, but what the hey. This thread made me go and read The Nutcracker, which I hadn't seen before - and it's very good!

It's one of only a handful of gag comics that I've found to be (almost) consistently funny. I got at least a smile or a snicker out of most of the strips, and many made me laugh out loud - and I like a comic that does that! The few strips I didn't find funny mostly served to further a storyline, so that's cool. I like how you have storylines behind the gags, so it doesn't become just a random collection of gags (but there are some very neat random jokes in there as well. A little bit of random-ness now and then is a good thing).

I actually liked the art right from the first strip. I mean yeah, you have improved a lot since the early strips, which aren't exactly technically well drawn, and there's still room for improvement - it seems you're moving towards a slicker, tighter and better defined style. But you had the characters' facial expressions and body language down right from the start. There were never any problems with readability or conveying the jokes to the reader, and that's what counts in a gag comic. And well, I like the sort of simple 'n' stylised drawing style you're working in.

Oh yes, updating it so often as you have is a good thing too!

Bravo, and keep up the good work! :D

I'm so happy when someone can see the goal of my comic. Now I have motivation to update, but no time. *looks for some spare time in the drawer*

This is definitly one of my favorite comics. There have been very strong improvements over a relatively short time frame. The art is usually consistent sticking to a unique style (especially the eyes). Occasionally you use more cartoony or jokey anime styles but to a specific intent each time and it usually pulls off well. In all reality this is one of the very few comics I actively keep up with and check it nearly every day because I still haven't gotten it through my head that the schedual has changed. The plots sometimes jump a little bit, but it has become much more cohesive and coherant lately and contines to go strong.

I look forward to more and hope that you can get back up to daily updates soon. =]

Well, the art is definitely cool. I like tat it's got a uniqueness to it. The comic strip alone though doesn't really compel me to keep reading, I think the humor somewhat passes me by. Maybe it's cuz someone in an earlier post said that it's like anime' humor, and I usually don't understand anime' humor =P I was hoping to hopefully get clued in a little more into what the character's are like, but all of your page links got a 404 error [links, cast, etc.]

This is just an error that occurs on the archived pages when one forgets to place a "/" before the url, causing a superfluous, link-killing "/d" to be incorporated.

For example, changing "cast.html" to "/cast.html" will fix the problem.

Since this problem is unique to the dailytemplate-derived pages, the links still work just fine on Nutcraker's front page.
