Severed Ties ------->The current arc
I am taking a week off to work on the next story. I feel different now and I am going to attempt to crank it up a notch. The first page took me maybe 8 hours to pencil so far, and I'm not done yet. And I may change the way I ink things. Will it work? We'll see. It could end up sucking. It's expected run length will be close to 100 pages. I'll rename this thread when it's up and running so it'll be the official storyline thread.

Re: Some sort of announcement
Mmm, sounds well intriguing.
Cor blimey, you making a graphic novel?
Speaking of which, I'd really like to see (as in, I would definitely buy) a The End of Things book. It's a fine comic you make, and IMHO fine comics should be printed on real genuine paper and placed right there on my bookshelf so I can re-read them without having to turn on the computer!

It would be pretty cool to compile this and sell it in a book format some day. One of my goals with this next story is to up the quality as much as possible so that it would be worthy to have in a book of some sorts.Paul Escobar wrote:Speaking of which, I'd really like to see (as in, I would definitely buy) a The End of Things book. Heh, thanks. After hanging out this Christmas with my sister's boyfriend, who is a professional illustrator, I'm trying to focus on the draftsmanship and do less hatching.
I think I'm starting to get Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from holding the pen too tightly. As well as drumming and using a keyboard everyday. So I'll be taking it easy for a while.

Well...
I couldn't post this long message I wrote, but that's ok. I was just saying I just realized the gang would make for an amusing band. See...? Maybe...?

mmm, blood.
Funny you should mention band. Evan is a percussionist. Not much mention has been made of it yet though other than what's mentioned on the character page (which need some major updating, ugh), but it's about to come up real real soon, And Maynard was playing the bass in one panel back in the previous story.
Heh heh.
Of couse Robert Crumb does a good job of folds and hatching, but I'm not Robert Crumb. Nor do I want to be.
I think wanker is a funny word.

Thanks. I'm paying more attention to the folds in clothing now. That's part of the reason there's less hatching than the older pages.Gildedtongue wrote:Definately love the trenchcoat Evan has. Excellent job on the fabric of that. looks like the wind and such are actually affecting it.

I rather enjoy Robert Crumb. His career spans several decades, so he has developed a number of different styles that he can whip out like a tool from a Swiss army knife. After a while his self-loathing thing can get a little old, but one can't deny his influence on the comic world. Plus he can draw incredibly well when he wants to.
