the story finally started again!

Flares mind reeled, both from the power of the blow and the lack of oxygen.......

The last thing she remembered was a hard and cold bracelet being forced over her wrist, right before she blacked out......

********

De'V leaped backwards, well out of the short reach of those powerful claws. The claws clamped shut on empty air, De'V lashing out himself, raking 20 inch talons of his own across the wide crab claws. They dug in deep, white flesh of the crab showing through eerily.

The crab launched quickly out of the water, its six strong legs propelling it with significant speed, but nothing compared to the cat dragon. De'Vs mind raced, he could see the merman forcing something over her hand through the ocean water.

With his keen, cat-like vision he could see all too clearly as Flare was being dragged ever deeper. Knowing that Flare could not hold her breath much longer, he needed to act quickly or she would be beyond saving.....

He feinted left and the crab made a lunge, claws ready to clamp down to crush bone and fur. De'v rolled aside, his huge and powerfully muscled body twisting easily, to strike from behind the claw with his mouth. Huge cat-like and needle sharp teeth drove deep into crab flesh, sinking through carapace, bone and flesh like it was butter...

De'Volder clamped down harder again and the crab gurgled in anger and pain, trying to turn and twist to get its claws on the furred beast causing it so much pain. De'V had the crab in its weakest position, unable to turn because of the force against its claw and the pressure against its body....

De'V raked in his hind legs, using his tensed leg muscles to force apart the crab's two shell halves. Tendons and sinew held together, but De'v applied more force and sunk his razor talons in deeper, splitting bone and muscle...the shell gave way and tore open like tinfoil....

The crab seemed to gurgle a little, before white blood and gore spurted from its mouth. Wobbling on its legs and unable to stand anymore, it toppled into the ocean and sank to the ocean floor...

De'V took a huge breath in.....and dove head first into the ocean to find Flare.......

Flare awoke on the ocean floor, the soft gelatinous feel of seaweed brushing against her. The seaweed swirled like wet hair around her, tickling her awake. She sat up completely, her wrist burning where the braclet had hold of her skin.

Flare had guessed that the bracelet was magical, how else could she have survived the crushing pressure, or even hold her breathe for so long? Taking it off would certainly kill her. For now, she calmed her nerves and took stock of everything around her.

Surrounded by a huge crater, the area was massive, almost like a collosseum. The walls were lined with huge kelp beds....no, not kelp, but sea creatures, bundled up like flies in a spider web! Flare moved awkwardly...she must have slept on her arm, as pins and needles drove their way through her like nails.

The huge seaweed bed moved and the sucking effect of the water being shifted pulled her off balance...and then its eye opened......

*********

De'V Swam downwards, searching frantically for a sign, something to follow that would give him a clue as to her direction. No bubbles, no blood, no trail of scent to pick up on. De'V breached the surface and took another massive breath.

Diving down again into the murky depths, he began to dive deeper into the murky water. Light didn't seem to penetrate down to here, but De'Vs eyes made up for the lack of light. A few ocean dwellers came out of their holes to inspect the landward dragon, his normally light and soft coat sleek and silvery under the water....

They flitted past his line of sight, hiding in the shadows. A massive form seemed to slide into view then disappear just as quickly. De'V needed to take another breath, the last oxygen was burned up when his heart skipped a beat at the dark shadowy form. He rose to the surface and burst through. His fur had become like a wet doona, dragging him down in the water.

It was then that he saw the dark shape again, as it sped through the water near to him.....it rose like a submarine, massive, black and promising of death.....

Moments later, an ugly black fin broke the surface and sped towards him.....

*sighs in relief* I thought so. I'm glad it's a magic bracelet... i wonder who put it on her?! and poor De'V must be so worried!!! Black fins arent typically a good sign...

De'V braced for the impact as best he could, the sheer speed and power behind the shark would be massive. De'V, though a dragon, was still only one of the top creatures in the food chain, one out of its prime hunting territory. A shark was in its element here.....

The jagged rows of teeth told the story of the type of shark, De'V instinctively dropped below the surface and faced the head on charge....

Massive white-grey flesh slammed into silky fur in a blur of teeth and claws.......

sorry, short update, keyboard nearly out of batteries! keeps mispelling!

Flare spun around, the massive eye catching her off guard. The eye belonged to a huge puffer fish...not such a dangerous adversary at their normal size, but this wasnt one of ordinary size!

Flare aimed her arm at the fish and summoned a beam of pure heat and light.........

Fish flesh seared under the intense heat...Flare's arm burned with the agony of a steam burn, the combination of elements hurting them both. Reeling from the agony in her arm, b ut knowing the feel of the fish's needle like teeth would be far more painful, she concentrated her power more intensely.

The smell of seared fish rose in bubbles to the surface. Flare crutched her arm, unable to use her power again to heal the wound. The carcass of the fish lay behind her as she began to climb the kelp walls.....

************************************

Massive opaque orbs watched on as Flare made short work of the enemy fish. Poseidon raised a seaweed covered eyebrow, surprised that a human could contain so much power. This young woman may prove a real challenge. deciding to watch, at least for now, to see what the woman was capable of.

The woman was captivating in her intrigue, her potential spell-binding. Poseidon would relish the opportunity to test her abilities and her resourcefulness. Now to set up the tests.....

************************************

Teeth and claws were all that was visible within the water, huge triangle shaped death meeting refined, stilletto like claws. De'V clamped his gigantic maw over the snout of the great white, biting down through several layers of flesh, but failing to do much damage. The shark rammed further forward, using the flow of water to push hard against De'V, keeping him from getting too good a grip on its body.....

De'V released his grip on the snout of the white and instead let the flow of water drag him off the body and away from the serated teeth. Flowing freely within the water, De'V was now able get into a safe fighting position.

The sharkcame around for another pass..............

Ooh, pufferfish... I'm amazed Flare is still able to fight, good for her. Somehow I think she's going to make it...

Dev was free and the shark was 15 feet away, rapidly closing the distance between them with powerful sweeps of its tail, Dev coiled up, tensing his muscles and pumped them hard upwards. He shot forward through the water, his own tail propelling him at high speed.

The shark closed in, its mouth inches away from De'Vs midsection as he burst from the water, his silken wings opening and lifting him higher...away from the serrated death.

The jaws of the shark clamped down on nothing but water, De'V was free!

De'Vs heart was thumping wildly, the shark was a very close call. Exhaustion had taken its toll on him, holding his breath under water, swimming with sodden fur, the battle with the crab....

De'V flew to the nearest cliff and slammed hard against it. Digging in his massive talons, he pulled himself up the cliff fcae in desperation. A cave like opening stretched before him and he collapsed in an exhausted, wet mass.....De'Vs last thought was that Flare was ok.........

Hours passed.....maybe even a ful day before De'V awoke. Still wet, with an icy chill clinging to his bones, De'V stretched his weary body. Aches he never knew he could have sent waves of pain and nausea through his mind.

Reeling, he lay back against the stone to try to regain his bearings. His stomach ached from lack of food, his muscles aching from over-exertion and his mind was clouded and groggy from the combination of everything.

He needed to eat...restore his energy levels. Casting a simple spell of Hunters Knowledge, in his minds eye, the closest animals that would help to satisfy his hunger appeared like blips on a map.

De'V made his way to the cave entrance...and took off awkwardly....

**********************

Aanstekenhemel floated in the emptiness of a Void of White. there were no exits, no gateways or portals out of this white prison. She knew that she was trapped within a spell, one of considerably higher power than she herself could conjure.

Aanstekenhemel could feel the Presence behind the malevolence. It was there, just beyond mental reach. She was trapped here, for eternity, until someone killed the one who trapped her in this spell, or if she was killed in battle. Summons went insane, stuck within their magical confines.

Centuries of enslavement drove them crazy. Aansteken knew De'V would come for her, knew he would do everything within his power to save her. But how long would it take? How long before he found her? A year? Ten years? Or would she go insane like so many other Summons?

Aansteken began to cry with a sadness that only someone truly alone could ever feel. A terrible sadness that drove deep within her heart. She curled up her serpentine form and sobbed like a human child......

*******************************

The sweet scent of mutton reached De'Vs nostrils. A farm nearby...by the smell of it! De'V wheeld in the air, his stomach growling as loudly as his throat. driving downward like an arrow from the sky, he pulled up just in time to see the farmer tending his flock, rough hands throwing out bales of hay for them to eat.

Pulling up sharply, he stopped within ten feet of the terrified man. The man stood stock still, almost white with fear. De'V smiled warmly, showing rows of sharp teeth.....the man quivered and looked ready to pass out. De'V looked him over, noticing his weathered look, his tanned and wrinkled skin. The man had been tending his flock his entire life.

Aged experience radiated from him. A familiararity stirred within De'V...he recognised this mans features. Perhaps a bargain could be sought with this man. De'Vs eyes narrowed and his smile became a shrewd mask of negotiation. The man took this as a bad sign and asked timidly "Are you going to kill me?"

De'V started, shocked at the preposterous notion of eating a human. "No my good farmer, I am not going to eat you. But I have not eaten for a few days and am in need of nourishment.... I want several of your sheep"

The man looked to his flock....these were his children....ever since his two sons had been killed in the war...this was all he had left, the sheep and his wife of 50 years.

"You will just take them if I was to say no, wouldnt you?" Resignation hung in the mans voice. De'V tilted his head to the side. "A friend of mine is in need and I need to be at my best to fight for her"

The man raised his gaze to meet De'Vs own "why do you fight? Fighting solves nothing, saves no-one. Fighting only brings death." Tears began to form in his eyes as he spoke and he lowered his head sadly. It was then that De'V remembered why this man was familiar!

"I can see that Loss has touched you too. In this land, we all suffer loss, we all eventually die, but...." pausing for a stronger effect, De'V waited for the man to look to him again "it is how we LIVE while we are alive that matters"

"Your loss will hurt, but your sons died...." the man looked up sharply, wide eyed at the recognition "for a cause they believed in" The man interrupted before he could finish "YOU KNEW MY SONS!?" Solemnly, De'V lowered his head. "The first time I met your sons, I was impressed by their strength and loyalty to what they held sacred. Yours sons served their King well, fought to the end like avenging angels. They died defending their beliefs....and the sanctity of those who could not defend themselves."

Tears streaming down his face un-ashamedly, the old man spoke softly "I loved my sons...I was so proud of them both for being the men they became...I just...just never got to say goodbye to them!"

De'V moved closer to the man and placed a paw against his side......"If you could say that to them now...would you?" the man locked eyes with De'V "what do you mean? you plan to kill me so I can see them again?!"

De'V sighed "No, I will not kill you, but I can offer you a chance to say what you always wanted to them" "This is a one off and cannot be done again. Do you want to do this or not?"

"I will do it...but can my wife be there for it too!?" trepidation crept in, hoping he had not pushed too far or asked too much. "in return, I offer you as many sheep as you can handle"

De'V smiled "Its decided then, climb on and I will take you to your wife."

De'V reached out and encircled the old man around the waist, hoisting him over and into his back saddle. Within a few moments, they had arrived at the mans home. His wife nearly died of fright at the sight of her husband disembarking from the back of a dragon!

Hours later, the spell had been cats and both humans had spoken across the Planes to their departed sons. The emotions were almost overwhelming, De'V turning away to give them the privacy they deserved.

After an hour, when what needed to be said had been done, the Gateway closed....and they were gone......

Teary eyed, but happy, the couple approached De'V reverently. In their hands they held a small, cloth wrapped gift. This they placed in De'Vs massive paw. De'V could feel the radiating magic coming from it.

"It is an amulet of warning, it will give you a ten second warning of incoming danger .....It is not much, but it is all we have to give you"

"You dont have to give me this, your sheep are of more interest to me" -at this De'V stomach growled again- giggling, the old woman wrapped her arms around De'Vs neck and kissed his cheek...."I will never forget your kindness this day"

Patting his neck -she whispered, "so soft.....just like a giant kitten."

De'V blushed, the crimson showing through in his fur. "OK, time for me to leave I think!" Taking a step away from them both, he folded the amulet into his neck harness, its magic seeping into the protective bands. His last words to the couple were "I will take three sheep, that will be enough and one more thing before I leave....this is for you Sir....

Reaching into a hidden fold within his saddle, he pulled forth a clutch of jewels....."use it how you wish, but make it do something worthy of your sons sacrifice"......

De'V was gone, dust and leaves whipping up in his wake. The couple looked to the sky, watching his tiny form disappear into the clouds......

******************************

De'V descended from the clouds above the sheep paddock. Streaking like lightning, he passed over the flock.....three sheep disappeared after that pass.

Hours later, after consuming all three sheep, De'V felt recharged and ready for action. He knew where Falre had gone, knew what he had to do. Get Flare back first, then find Aanstekenhemel after that.

The loss of Lightning was tragic, but they were alive and the living needed to live on, until it was their own time to die. They would be reunited in the next life.....

De'V made his way back to the place where Flare had disappeared beneath the waves.......

The Return of Lightning

Post by Struck3xbylightning »

The waves lapped gently at the edge of the rocks....tinged lightly with the red swirl of a bleeding form. Tiny crabs crawled away from the bloodstained rocks as a hand reached out to drag itself upwards. Blood stained and with two fingers bent the wrong way and the skin all split to the bone....Lightning pulled himself halfway out of the cold ocean water and fell back against the rock wall.

Panting heavily and coughing from the water in his lungs, he gasped in mouthfuls of fresh air. Anyone who happened to pass him by, would have believed him dead, if it wasnt for his chest rising in ragged gasps and the sound coming from his split lips.

Nearly his entire body was bloodstained, and there were multiple fractures, broken bones seeming to be everywhere. Lightning groaned and rolled onto his side. Struggling to rise, he leant against one of the rocks and rose to his knees. Looking at his wounds...he knew he needed healing fast. The cold of the ocean water and its saltiness would have helped to cleanse the wounds and to slow the flow of blood, but the bones that were broken would infect soon, if he did not recieve treatment.

Only thing was....he had no idea where he was......

****************

An hour passed.....and it was getting warmer. The sun was coming back up and its warming glow brought a smile painfully to Lightning's lips. The sunlight always felt so good! Lightning was still at the bottom of the cliff...he ust have blacked out? He lookoed around, for something to help him walk...but there was nothing but the waves lapping at the rocks, a few small sand crabs and some seaweed. Sighing, he reaced for his short sword, hoping to use it like a cane...but it was gone. His whole weapons belt was gone.

"Wouldnt matter anyway" he thought " Cant hold the damn thing with this many broken fingers!" A wry smile came to him...somewhat painfully. He made his way like an old man to the water once more, following it arounf for almost a mile before the cliffs began to recede to flat plains. He could smell a fire....hopefully a farmhouse nearby!?

He moved faster, praying that it would have someone there who could help him, or get help from somewhere. Rising up over the hill came a farmhouse, soft smoke rising from its double chimney and the sound of children playing came to him.

"HELP!!" he yelled, his lungs burning, his ribs constricting how loud he could yell. The children kept on playing, the sound of their laughter louder than his call for help. Agony burned through his whole body now, as he rushed his way closer to the farmhouse. Again he yelled "HELP!"...only this time, the children stopped playing. All went silent around the farm....and moments later, the sounds of children calling their parents became all too loud.

"Theres a bloodied man in the garden! Momma, Poppa!" All three children of varying age were running towards him, a big man running heavily gaining on them. He saw Lightning's ragged form, and placed a hand out to stop the children. In one hand, a farmers trident, the other a large chain flail.

Lightning raised his hands to show he was weaponless, trying to form the words through bloodstained lips. The last thing he saw was the ground rushing towards him, heavy farmers boots running and then nothing.......

The room slowly came into focus for Lightning as a new day approached. Aching, he tried to lift up and sit upright in the bed. A steady hand held his arm and a soft feminine voice told him to lie still.

Body aching, and her voice like an angels, Lightning did as he was told. He lay back on the bed and opened his eyes properly to the light. It must have been early morning, by the brightness of the sun and the sounds of animals in the background.

He surveyed the room, coming to rest on a young girl sitting near to the bed, with a small wand in her hand.

"please...stay where you are, you must not move. Father will be up in a moment to check on you and ask you some questions" Her voice was confident, she knew how to handle herself in a situation. Lightning wondered what the wand could do and what she had planned to do with it if he had tired anything.

The sounds of heavy boots could be heard from the other room and a gruff voice spoke evenly to another. The words sounded unintelligable, but Lightning knew it was about him.

The footsteps headed in his direction and the girl stiffened. The door to the room swung open and a burly man in his early forties entered the room. From his way of moving and the sureness in his eyes, Lightning knew this man hadnt always been a farmer. Perhaps a Militia soldier? Or even a fully trained fighter for the Humans in the war?

The questions started and Lightning answered honestly. He told the man of what had happened at the cliff and how he came to get to the farmhouse, omitting the part about De'V and Aansteken. Telling people about dragons tended to make them nervous.

The man sat stoically through it all, nodding here and there, listening intently at the parts of battle and seeming to drift off during the travelling parts. Lightning gauged a little more about this man from his posture and body language.

Lightning asked a question of his own....to which the man seemed reluctant to answer. "Who had bound and healed his wounds?" Lightnings severe fractures had all been healed, no permanent damage to bone or flesh, though there seemed to be stitches and heavy bruisiing in more areas than he wanted to feel.

The man shoook his head, not wanting to answer, but barked out an angry sound when the girl holding the wand said that it was she who had healed him, with the wand.

Lightning smiled and said thankyou. The man scolded her for revealing the power of the wand, but seemed to cave in himself and told a little more about it. "The wand saved you from severe infection and has healed you over several days. Its power is almost used up, we were saving it for my wife.....but...she is beyond saving now. Her...condition is far past the capabilites of a simple wand of healing."

Lightning felt a lump at the back of his throat. They had used the wand almost to the point of its destruction to save him. A stranger they did not even know and whose intentions were unclear.

"May I have the wand for a moment?" Lightning reached out for it, eyes calm and clear. The girl looked to her father, unsure of what to do. He nodded and she held out the wand to him for inspection. Lightning took hol dof it, could feel the Divine magic still present inside, even if it was somewhat diminished. Closing his eyes, Lightning concentrated, focusing his own inner power. The wand began to hum softly, seeming to sing a wordless song.

Power coursed along Lightnings arm and into the wand, infusing it with a white light. Lightning coughed and blood spurted from his lips as the wounds on his body began to form again. The power had taken a small piece of his lifeforce and reversed some of the wands healing. The girl lunged forward, to try and stop him, to take away the wand, but it held fast in Lightnings grasp. The wand began to waver, shimmering and changing shape. Blood continued to spill from his lips....now the man had gotten up, trying to wrest the wand free.

The room erupted into brilliant light, causing the man and girl to shield their eyes involuntarily. When the light dissapated, Lightning was flat aginst the bed sheets, blacked out once more, blood pouring from both nostrils. The wand had gone, but something shimmered inside his palm.......

Both of them lurched forward to help Lightning, talking hurriedly and shaking him to try to wake him.......

***********************************

De'V soared high in the sky, his soft fur whipping about in the wind. He could smell Flare's scent, her strange and exotic perfume was one of his favorites and easily remembered. The smell was stronger now and he dipped his head downward, following it to the ocean waves. The water was only a few metres below when he reeled upward, strong gusts buffetting the water. Flare's scent ended here. It was time to get wet again.

Chanting an Arcane mantra, he summoned a Globe of Water Breathing and clipped it into his neck brace. Diving into the water, he started his search for Flare......

The man and the girl tried desperately to wake him, but Lightning was out cold. Leaning in to his chest, the man listened for a heart beat. Lightnings heart was beating normally.

"Grab a clean cloth and some hot water" he commanded the girl. Promptly, she left and could be heard running down the wooden floorboards towards another room. The man pried open Lightnings clenched fist... revealing a shimmering amulet.

Gasping softly, he picked it up gently and turned it over in his hands. It felt cool to the touch, the metal almost soft like wood. Inspecting it closer, it seemed that it was wood, but it shined like metal and was cool to touch, the same way metal was.

Concentrating on it, he spoke the word of power that once activated the wand. The Amulet vibrated and a tingling sensation travelled up his arm and into his shoulder. For over a year, the man had had trouble with his shoulder from tilling the soil and sowing the crops. The sensation passed and his shoulder felt better immediately.

He rotated his shoulder, testing it. He hadnt felt this strong since retiring from active service for the Citadel. He tucked the amulet into his pocket and called out for his daughter. The sounds of her light footsteps echoed softly along the hallway as she returned.

Carrying a bucket of warm water and a cloth, she began to clean up the blood from Lightnings face.

"Dad" she asked "will he be ok?"

"I think everything will be just fine" he smiled...something he had not done for a long time. "Clean him up and get dinner ready, I will be back shortly" He closed the door behind him, his footsteps gradually fading as he left.

The girl wiped away the blood gently, speaking softly to Lightnings prone form "you made him smile....he has not smiled in years!" she smiled herself. Perhaps this injured man was the answer to her prayers?

"My name is Milly...and I think you coming here was meant to be. I am going to look after you until you get better, so you just rest and heal and I will fix you something to eat"

Milly had no idea if he could hear her, but the sound of her own voice gave her a little confidence. She chatted away to him, wiping and clearing away the blood as best she could. She told him of her mother, of the wasting disease that was destroying her mind, of her sister Ja'Queline, her older brother D'Aemon and how together they fought for the Citadel.

She also told him of her two younger siblings, who she was in charge of looking after since her mother had taken ill. "Tehki and Shy'La are such a handful, but I love them just the same" a big grin shot across her face as the memories of fun times came into her mind again.

Tehki is such a rough and tumble little boy, bounces back from almost everything. I remember when he came running up to the house one day, carrying a big, smelly lizard in his arms." Milly shuddered, she hated lizards "but he was so excited at having caught it. He kept it for about two weeks, until it disappeared on day. He was so devastated, but dad told him what happens to lizards when they grow up. He told him they become mighty Dragons, who rule the skies..."

"....of course, lizards dont grow up into dragons, but Tehki still loves to hear that tale at bedtime" she shook her head in rememberence. "Dad still tells it the best though, tells of where "Lizardo" is now. That was Tehki's lizards name by the way"

Milly talked for hours more, Lightning out to it all. he was long ago clean and she wasnt wiping away blood anymore, but caught up in her storytelling, Milly did not even notice her fathers return. His gruff, authoritive voice made her jump.

"Milly! What are you doing!? Why have you not prepared the evning meal?"

Red-faced and ashamed of her inaction, she bowed her head and apologised. "I am sorry father, I lost all sense of time" Looking up at her father though her fringe, she worried that he would be angry. All she saw was a bemused smile. One she returned herself. Beaming at him, she exited the room, promises of a wonderful evening meal coming from her lips.

The man took a final glance at Lightning, closing the door behind him and following Milly to the kitchen.

Hours later, they had all eaten and left a bowl of meat stew beside Lightnings bed.....

**********************

Flare struggled to climb the kelp walls, thick and slippery as they were, but she was determined. Her arm was killing her, the steam burn from before aching like there was no tomorrow. Normally a burn would not harm her for this long, her own natural regenerative power would have healed the wound. But under the water, in an opposing element, her power was more of a danger to her, than a help.

Weaponless, she had no choice but to use it if an enemy made itself appear, but until then, she would put up with the pain. At least the water was cold and helped to slow the burn.

Flare could feel she was being watched....she had been in combat long enough to trust her senses, but to WHAT was watching her, she could not tell. A malevolent force for sure, but until it exposed itself, she would continue on.

Flare looked to the bracelet on her arm. A merman had put it there, why she was not sure. There was soemthign down here that wanted her to survive, otherwise why else put a bracelet of Water Breathing on her? She studied it closer, hoping to glean some information from it, be it a rune, or a glyph perhaps? It was completely smooth, evident of a highly skilled magic user. One powerful enough to imbue the metal directly, without Runecrafting or Warding.

That did not bode well for Flare. Flare though over possible scenarios as to why or even how such an artifact came into the Mermans possesion. Merpeople rarely used metal, even rarer that they used magic to create water breathing artifacts. A lowly brigand or murderer, or even a party of them, would not be holding onto an object like this one. They would sell it for serious money.

No...something greater and far more powerful was behind this. Too many coincidences for it to be anything less. First, the Aboleth attack, the disappearance of Aansteken <it takes a being of huge power to make a dragon disappear!> Lightnings death and De'Vs inability to find her. Something must have happened, De'V was brilliant tracker. Relentless too.

This entity was playing with her, playing with them all. Perhaps Aansteken was still alive? Maybe Lightning was too? Flares heart skipped a beat....Lightning....please be ok!? Flare shook unhappy thoughts from her mind and climbed over the last of the kelp.

Vast, cold black ocean spread out for as far as she could see......

you know you promised us pictures for this ages ago....so how is that going? Had much of a chance to draw any? I know you are busy, but even just started sketching would be cool enough......

Stories getting longer, needs a bit of editing to smooth out the story though. Guess you may already know that, but just pointing it out. Perhaps take the whole thing, re-edit, then repost it? That way it will seamlessly blend into itself and have better continuity?

Just a thought.

hope you are keeping sexy, talk to you soon.

PS De'V reminds me of your little kitten Mana. Any chance it is based around her? I know De'V is a guy and all, but the way you describe it sounds a little like your crazy kitty.

Flare had no idea which way to head and had no way of telling north from south, east from west. The water around her would have crushed her if it wasn’t for the bracelet over her wrist; perhaps too it was protecting her from the cold? Not willing to chance it and unable to use her powers to assist her, she began to swim upwards.

Kicking hard, she made a slow ascent towards the surface of the ocean. There was no light, but she could see well in the water - perhaps another ability of the bracelet? The ocean was so clear, no swirling dust, no other fish at all, no bubbles rising to the surface. An eerie sense passed over her and she shuddered involuntarily. Maybe something ominous was around and had scared off all the fish?

Pushing the awful thoughts creeping into her mind away, she continued to swim upwards, hoping to get out of the oppressive dark water and back into the sunlight.

After swimming for almost an hour, Flare felt as though she had barely moved at all, the only way she could tell she had gone anywhere was the fact that the kelp walled crater was no longer in sight. Sighing, she breathed in a lung full of water and exhaled them with no difficulty. The bracelet was indeed a mighty artifact!

Flare had begun to tire and was slowing down with fatigue. Falling asleep would not matter, as she could breathe the water as a fish would, but falling asleep here would be like setting a bait for a trap in a massive sphere of water. Anything could come along and swallow her whole! The though of being eaten did not exactly thrill her.

Flare decided to use her power, and she gently heated the water around her, enough that the warm current lifted her body upwards, like an air bubble. Flare took care no to rise too fast, as the pressure around her body needed to remain equal. Relishing the warming feel of the radiating magic, she felt a thrill of exhilaration as the first shafts of light broke the depths……

From behind her came the massive streamlined form of an enormous shark……….

Its been a really long time since anybody commented in here, so I am no longer adding to it here. If you want to read the following parts to this story, send me an email for the rest. The entire story is 54 pages long now, so much has happened and so much more to come.

I also have two other major stories on the go, ones I have been working on for a long time. You can check them out on my deviantart account after the 17th of January, when I have time off to upload them all.

I spent three and a half hours on the Arcana drawings the other night and its coming along really well. Will upload if people want to see it?

Wel, thats it from me in here, Flare and Lightning is officially dead here, but you can continue to catch more updates if you send me an email.

Take care all, talk to you soon
