Hah. Sounds like an extension of the legend that
those black cats always pick their owners. They just show up and take over the house. By the way, the crooked tail isn't broken vertibrae--it's a recessive trait carried by siamese cats. One of my siamese has it. The legend is that the original siamese cat was kept by a princess who asked him to guard her golden rings. She slipped the rings over the cat's tail, and the cat curled his tail down at the tip to hold the rings. And now siamese cats have curly tails.
Sounds like the 'Rog is part siamese. Which fits. Black coat is a recessive for them, and the curly tail, and the huge fangs, and the clawing hard surfaces (Shanachie does what looks almost like a tapdance in front of the water bowl sometimes...Juju just tries to bury the food bowl to keep the other predators in the house from finding it. Nevermind that the food bowl is on tile).
And only answering to one name...yup, that's siamese. When we rescued Juju from being hawkbait, I tried every name I could think of for that tiny black kitten. Til I got to, "Juju?" "Mrw?" "Is your name Juju?" "Mrw!" And he bounced over to me. "Guess your name is Juju." Of course, now he also answers to Black Beast ('cause he is at 15 pounds).
Hmm, 'cept for the green eyes, does the 'Rog look anything like this?

(he was pissed off that I used the flash)
