You do have a good point there. I guess the best thing to do would be to bite the bullet and get a good logo to start with.
Still I get tired of seeing these ugly logos all over the place and thinking “I could do better than that. Shoot, I know ten people who could do better than that. And, you’re a nationally traded company sporting that ugly thing?!”

Or, if your budget's low, go with a simple logo. The Nike swoosh, for instance.

I agree,
One of the best logos for being simple and timeless is the Bank Of America logo. I don’t like Bank Of America, and would never bank there, but they did do a good job on their logo.

Hmmm, School lunch vs. bag lunch...
That math may not apply where I work, well at least not to me, I know the kids do eat cheaper than the faculty / staff.
THis reminds me of my friend in Denmark. Most european nations have ridiculously high gas prices, on the order of $10 / gallon. Now does gas actually cost that much? No... Gas is only $3 / gallon, the remaining $7 goes to provide "free" public transportation to the folks living in the big cities. (At least most of the cash goes to maintaining that infrastructure, I was really impressed with Germany's rail system, you could ride anywhere in the country quickly and efficiently on the rails. Very cheap too, thanks to the fools driving on the autobahn! )
Sigh, nothing like charity enforced at gunpoint...

Corporations are made out of the people. And when you tax them to death...
Well, we'll see what the next four years has to offer. I hope that it will not be as bad as I have been led to believe. At least there is not a liberal supermajority in the senate.
The judicial nominees are going to be painful to watch, though.

Webcomics panel:
Congratulations on being a selected expert! =^^=
The only caveat is that they might start expecting you to do more stuff... But in the meantime enjoy the attention and being able to shape malleable little minds!

Regarding the 16 June strip on computers: I feel it, one thing I hate to do is throw money down a hole for something I will never use. I quickly learned that if I wanted something, I researched all the options, looked at what I wanted it to do, then I bought it, and forgot stores existed (well, at least until it broke). This philosophy held me good for my personal stereo system, TV, rack audio system, car, then I got a computer. The only way to avoid buying computers is to avoid playing PC video games like the plague. I kept my old AMD based box alive for five years happily surfing the web, writing, and drawing the occasional picture. I only upgraded recently to a more powerful box because the hard drive popped and I can't get a replacement anymore. (well, I could, but could get a new barebones system for about the same cash.
At least computers have gone down dramatically in price from when I worked in the computer store! =^^;
