But humour's a tough one so I can understand why you'd not want to take the plunge and try to convince someone that what you think is funny
should be funny to them.

quote:
Originally posted by complex:

Can't say I read Life on Forbz, and I tried MegaTokyo and never got into it. Road Waffles could be brilliant but Eight runs out of plot too easily. Exploitation Now - even Poe admits that a lot of his stuff is just gratutious ddrool-inducing material, and again, doesn't have a running plot. Which isn't to say that I don't like it - I do, Poe's humour hits a dark mark with me. And as for Sinfest - gaaaaah! I'm sorry, but that strip no way deserves to be the cash cow it is. It's not exactly bad, it's just...not as good as its viewing figuressuggest. Plus it also relies on the device of having a scantily clad, oversexed, sex object female character.

quote:
Originally posted by complex:

This is exactly what I've been trying to say, but with considerably more weight behind them. In truth, Kitsune's art style is one of my favorites, even if her actual line work can be muddled. Actually, it's nearly as good as early Campos, and is probably going to get better.
Not that this matters at all to our little friend Complex though. I really never take flamers on the intrernet seriously... I'm just too certain he's really a ten-year-old giggling hysterically over our responses, or Farina.

------------------

Hey!! Don't knock it. At least it's not some "oh look at me I'm anime I'm so wonderful because I have Japanglish words and big-eyed hos in me" thing or another stick figure comic. Which so many new artists seem to be trying for. Feh. It's fricken ART FETISHISM! I'd like to see you do as good as Selena does with her abilities. Did you even read the "About Me" page to find out that she is, in her words, "moderately disabled" and effectively one-handed? She's too hard on her art abilities, though, mind you, I think she does bloody well.
I consider the key strength of C.U S to be its writing and would be DAMN proud to cross over with her any day.
So why did you register just to say something like this? Seems a bit unnecessary.... but then, all "you suck" posts are. What about some constructive criticism? How could it be improved? What are the key problems? Et cetera.
Mab
PS: I love Life on Forbez, Megatokyo and read Sinfest, but the whole point is that you can't compare them to C.US. There is no similarity - they are very different.
[This message has been edited by Maboo (edited 03-22-2001).]

Sure, we all miss Calvin and Hobbes, but please. The again, the art is always crisp and he makes fun of gay people. I should start inking and making more fun of ethnic groups and i too one day will be able to live on his whooping grand a month income. If you do, then you DAMN well better give me credit. I want to see: "This is all the idea of ASHA, or lord and saviour. It's all thanks to HER that this was even PONDERED. We love and worship her' in BIG, BOLD LETTERS ACROSS THE FRONT PAGE.

At first I thought Complex's post was a joke! It's obvious he's missing something, here. I happen to like your style, Kits. Your sense of humour is fantastic and you can pinpoint the many absurdities in our society so easily (at least, it appears effortless...). Your art is original and consistent, with easily identifiable characters who actually have personalities--try to find professional cartoonists who can boast that.
Well, in a nutshell, Complex is on crack. And your response to him deserves a standing ovation.

Kitsune is living proof that you don't need
to have a "good" drawing ability to make a
fine comic, and I find that inspirational.
(I actively despise "Cathy", which does more
to degrade women than all the porn on earth.
Perhaps she could get Roberta Gregory to do
the artwork! I cannot abide "Yubble Gubbles": they ain't cute.)
Is StPaulCoffee your antimatter, TBC, your
"evil Joyce" as it were?
If you want, I could put out a contract with
one of the South Side Studs to "put some cream in his coffee" when he is helpless!
*Yeeeeee hee hee heeeeeee!*
