Emergency guest strips-2009
Until Erin gets her new laptop (hope the last one was still under warranty... and I'm certain it was), here's where to go to rate all the newest guest strips.

I think the Jackal post wins by a hair because of the In Soviet Russia reference.

Gundam Wing has hot guys, kick-ass women and mechs. Hellsing has hot guys, kick-ass women and guns. ^_^ Ah, the joys of anime.

I'm more worried about Miyu and Karin, the way Jan is drooling over them!

'The internet says I am gay' is still the greatest thing to ever come from this comic.
If anyone can find it, I'd be appreciative.

There ya go. This one was written by one of my kids from the YMCA; I think she was a 12-14 year old. That previous one was written by a 20-something at Tekkoshocon. You can see the difference in age and quality.

I'm a Macbook user. Poor Erin, suffering through that.
I think Tim Buckley described Windows Vista most succinctly in this: http://www.ctrlaltdel-online.com/comic.php?d=20070331

My Tablet came with Vista Business preloaded. Ugh.
It is one of the worst OS's I've ever used, and I've used the Win95 Beta. It maintains some of the stability of Win2k (the best OS Microsoft has made so far), but not when dealing with older software. I'd wipe it and go with XP, but I'm worried then my Tablet would stop working.
I have hopes that Windows 7 will be an improvement akin to moving from 95 to 98SE.

Glad you got the laptop, Erin... and sorry you have to contend with Vista.

This laptop came with a free upgrade to Windows 7, so I'll be picking that up when it comes out. (Or maybe after a couple of months. Let other people discover all the major complaints first.)
Oddly enough, there are a lot of things about this computer that I'm really enjoying. Most importantly - it has a proper high-res screen! It's about the same physical size as my old one, but there are so many more pixels. For the first time in a long time, I feel like I have room to stretch.

Re: Emergency guest strips-2009
just wait until it starts uninstalling programs for you without your permission, like winamp, and photoshop, and world of warcraft, and well pretty much anything unless they've fixed the bug that made it see photoshop and warcraft as viruses and delete them. if it lets you install anything to begin with, that is... or run anything without clicking fifteen little message windows each time you start a program.
vista is the OS that makes me GLAD i'm still running 2000pro, despite the occasional compatability issues with newer programs. i'll happily take dosprompts over vista anyday.
there's this nice thing called a "reverse upgrade" that your local techie can help you do, it involves completely wiping the OS and reinstalling with XP or the non-vista OS of your choice. i highly reccomend it.
oh, and due to being down sick for a week with a cold, i only got 3 pages of comic done. T_T stupid immune system.

My brother tried a pre-release version of Windows 7. He found it a vast improvement over Vista. Though when he talked to some of his classmates that also tried the version, they said that it didn't work so well on older computers.Xuanwu wrote:My Tablet came with Vista Business preloaded. Ugh.

Damnit, all these comics make me wish I can draw. Ah, well. Happy birthday all the same, Erin!
EDIT: New plot, new thread!
