Update on the medical situation: the doctor says it is not bronchitis, which makes it instead The Worst Cold I Have Ever Had.
I have some prescription-strength cough syrup on hand, though, so I expect a more pleasant night tonight ^_^

Ah, lucky for you. If you ever get it again, I recommend Delsym for the cough. I used it as a kid: one serving stops coughing for 12 hours or so. It might actually be one of his deepest darkest fears. I know I can't picture the Major kissing anyone... but maybe the goddess of war or god if he happens to swing that way. :p
