Title Change

Post by Miruku »

I think it's rather obvious that the title of my comic isn't terribly amazing, or descriptive....or unique...(there's at least one other webcomic and a very famous manga- neither of which I knew about beforehand or even 40-50 pages in(

I'm toying with the idea of a name change. Don't know how serious I am about it, but I am considering it.

I, of course, have no idea what else I would call it.
Maybe something would have to actually happen before I could figure one out. Or maybe it could be music related, or SF related, or something.

If you don't have a huge following yet, this would be a good time for a title change if you are going to do it. Better than when you have a ton of followers!

I think something with violins would be good.

BTW, I notice you don't have a cast page. Since your story jumps between characters a bunch you might add one to help people hopping on your comic keep track of everyone.

Have you read Questionable Content? http://www.questionablecontent.net/
It has a similar feel to yours in some respects and seems to be doing really well.

Thinking of titles is hard. Fortunately for you, Miruku, I've compiled a list of high quality genuine alternative titles, oriented around music and San Francisco:

Emma Does San Francisco
The Romantic Adventures of Violin Girl (And Her Violin)
I Lost My Heart to Emma Gordon (I Think She Ate It)
The Craziest Restaurant in San Francisco!
Police Academy 17: Sax and Violins
Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Music (But Were Afraid to Ask...)
The Golden Gate Bridge... of the Heart
CSI: San Francisco
God There's a Lot of Hills in this Place
Emma Gordon and the Radioactive Koalas of Doom
Bullitt

But don't get too excited. Remember: you can only pick one!

PS. The second from last title involves a suggestion for a future event in the plot. If you choose to use it, there is no need to credit me. I am very generous!

To simplify them down a bit I really like Violin Girl. Or Emma's Requiem. Or Symphony for Violins.

Oh man.
Pacian, those are all such lovely titles I'm not entirely sure I can narrow down a favorite. Guess I'll just have to take my time.

My brother was just watching Bullit on the bus ride up to Scotland, and was telling me about it, like, yesterday. Weeeeird.

Obviously the best thing about that movie- though I have yet to watch it -is the fact that it is possibly the only movie ever to mention my hometown (being Orinda...which is actually right next to where Alicey lives(being Lafayette)). This is obviously the greatest movie moment of all time.

I think I'm leaning towards the third from last.
Also, the first.

But, of course, the koalas would certainly make the whole writer's block thing null, and that's always a plus.

Then again, I'm sure my following of not very intelligent, romance loving women...and 15 year old girls....would increase 10-fold if I chose something like number 7.

Hmmmmm...must think further on the subject...

I think that you should cash in on a totally successful, not over-hyped at all trend and call it... "Snakes on a Violin". It's box office gold. Er... web-comic gold, that is.

Or maybe "Strings on a Violin". Which would make more sense, seeing as this strip has no snakes in it. Yet. Everyone likes literally worded titles!

Keslar and the People, Keslar's People, Keslar's Girl, Keslar and the Girl....Something with Keslar's name in it.
I feel Keslar holds a very important part in this comic. He's like Nibbler from Futurama. Seems like a normal pet, but really he's all important and stuff on another planet or something. I wish I had a better example than a cartoon.

The Cat from Outer Space is a live action film. Is that better?

:D

Ken Berry is pretty cool. I just discovered Mama's Family and it is funnier than just about any show on TV these days. :D The Cat From Outer Space wasn't that greate though. http://www.kenberry.com/

might i make a suggestion?

you tell me if i ripped this off something else because im TRYING to be original (which is hard to do now a days since everyone keeps taking the good stuff XD)
maybe;
"From The Heart Of Emma Gordon" ?
or any variation of that like just "From The Heart" or a mix from some of the other more original titles xD "requiem from the heart"?
meh. just trying to give an idea. but do remember to many cooks may spoil the food. *likes to use metaphores as much as possible*

Thanks for the suggestion!
I think, in the end, I've decided not to change it. I occasionally still think about changing it, but "Emma" just makes the most sense to me of anything else I can think of (or has been suggested).

Plus, I have at least 400 readers now and I'm thinking it's getting to the point where it'll be tough to change it(at least of got the "; life, music, and san francisco" thing to add to it...it seems to help specificity).
