Rkolter wrote:If you really want a Wii at the cookout, go rent a TV and bring it? I'm serious! There are rental places nearby; I'll get you information so you can call ahead. We can put up another table, and we can get you power. And that TV can run the Wii, and on the tiny chance it gets busted, Beth and I won't be out any money for it.
I'm quoting myself to add that as a slightly different option, if you wanted to rent one of the two TVs we're going to get for the cookout, the cookout fund would pay for the actual rental - but the TV would end up in your name, and that one could have a Wii attached to it. Makes more sense and seems fairer to have the cookout fund pay for the TV, since it's for the cookout and all.
As long as the TV has RCA (red-white-yellow connectors) I should be able to connect my Wii to it, and I will accept the TV' responsibility. However, i would also like, on the very slim chance it gets broken, to whoever dealt the "fatality" to the TV, to also own up and help cover it. But, like I said, I've never experienced, not even heard 2nd hand, of a Wii/TV incident. You need me to call the hotel and tell them to put one TV in my name? Well, PM me details I guess.
We'll work it out in the next week or so and I'll contact you. Have to go and reserve the TVs. Once that's done, we'll set up the time to pick up the TVs for when you get into town, so you can come down with us and sign for one of them.

Ok, the draining of the cookout fund has started - Cookout related costs are coming due rapid fire now: Hotel meeting room, food, chips and salsa, soda, tv rental, banner, Cookout V special surprise, etcetera...

Those very few of you who have not paid, get your fee in! Those who want to join up, it's now or never!

Went by and put down deposit. :) Notes from the meeting.

1) Renovations look lovely. Rooms are nicer and the bathrooms are much, much better than last year. All issue we had with rooms, doors, and etc are resolved.
2) We get Executive Conference Rooms B & C. They have their own temperature controls. No more freezing out. We have the conference room Friday & Saturday.
3) Food will be served Saturday from 11am to 2pm. Same food as last year - hotdogs, hambugers, veggie burgers on request, baked beans...
4) Thursday morning arrivals. Ask politely if you can check in earlier. The rooms may be ready earlier than the offical check in time stated to you.

Now for the sad news:

Kristen, the lovely lady that organized everything for us last year, has a terminal illness and is no longer working there. Our new contact person, Katherine, is going to give us her contact information. I thought we could all sign a card for her and mail it to her sending our loves.

I look forward to signing the card. We should draw her some pictures too!

There certainly CAN be. But it won't be any kind of official thing. :)

Ladydarke and I are (finally) registered at the hotel. We're a bit late, but the lady who answered said "$75" so I dunno.

Heh. Last one in red.

This should probably come as no surprise, with how MIA I've been lately... but I can't go. My job situation is tenuous as it is. Sorry. Image
