Loony Tunes had giant eyes. Actually, I think Bugs and Daffy had larger eyes than most of your average anime characters.

Ok, I will specify: Giant pupils.

But there are also people who wont read a comic if it has giant eyes

and there are just as many regular cartoon style comics that start and fade away

But giant eyes (pupils) aren't a default! Noone really has so giant pupils. Even when manga artists try to draw realistically, they still draw unrealistically giant pupils.

Exactly. The big eyes in anime actually come from Osamu Tezuka's faschination with Bambi.

I actually thought that maybe it started out as a way for the Japanese to mock Americans but as usual we just didn't get it and went, "Oh god, that's so AWESOME!" 8)

I like drawing pointy hair cause it's fun and it looks cool. It's more expressive than flat hair. This is like the X-Men. All of us who have pointy hair are hunted and killed like animals. Why, McDuffies, why?
