A Coin of Time for a Mouse of Time?

Post by AmyStereo »

While looking around for coins made with anodised niobium (inspired by the Tolkien and fantasy coins minted by The Sire Post), I found this coin at the Royal Scandinavian Mint.

I thought of a certain Mouse of Time who could appreciate it. :) They're rare, but I'm thinking of getting one, myself, at US$65+$5.50s&h... Pricey, but..... :)

time is money - and vice versa! ^.^

(most mice of time approach hobbies such as coin collecting with apprehension, though. the temptation to take advantage of one's occupation to collect rare items - or, even more forbidden, obtaining from the past with intent to sell in the future - can be too great to resist. o.o)

(Which I did- I couldn't resist it! :) Besides, the atomic number of niobium is the same as my RL age as of my upcoming birthday in three weeks. :) Happy birthday to me! :) Mousie age is always exactly 13 years younger. ;) )

:D I figured you'd appreciate it. :)

Quite understandable! :)It, like many other collecting-based hobbies, draws too much temptation to take advantage of travelling the timestream, not just in the past, but into the future-- How often have you been tempted to jump a few years ahead to get your favourite performer's or band's next album, and you justy don't want to wait! :) Very tempting! :) Or getting the final Harry Potter book before Ms Rowling has even commited the book to submitted manuscript! :) Just way, way too tempting! :D

it can be! the corps is a good organization, but we aren't infallible and we
aren't perfect. sometimes it is necessary for the timekeepers to carry out
disciplinary action on a member who just plain couldn't resist temptation.
even i've received a warning or two when i've tweaked the rules to
spend more time with my kat. *^.^*

I'm not at all surprised. ;)

Me, I'll stick to horology or fool around a bit with clocks & calendars. If I were ever to be involved in something like the Mice of Time, I'd be too tempted to put up an "island in the stream", away from any particulat time or place. I'm just a recluse of a mouse... So.... I'd leave all the fun to you guys. :)

Coins are nice and all, but I'll stick with puzzles and such. They're much more fun to collect and to solve.

Heck, I'm still waiting for the release of 'A Fool and His Money' by Cliff Johnson. I man, going into the future to get it and bring it back to the past might be neat, but then there's always that little bit of philosophy from one of my favorite movies:

"When will Then be Now?"
"Soon!"

Coin collecting can be fun for whole family. For some it is more than hobby, it is way to make money. There are many different kinds of coin collecting including country specific coins, historical coins, as well as commemorative coins. Ancient coins are more rare form of coin collection. Many people that collect coins tend to steer clear of ancient coin collecting because of expected high price tags. These coins typically extremely rare, making the value & sales price extremely high.
