My trip to Ann Arbor

The happening place to be. Unless you go somewhere else that's more stimulating.

Um not really. I bought some stuff from him and he was pretty nice. I've heard tell the legend though.

Presumably the one about him being a Randist closet case who doesn't take disagreement well

Oh you mean, instead of presenting counter arguments to opinions he takes various books out on a shooting range and perforate them with his glock?

Randist? As in, Ayn Rand?

I'm not one for rumor-mongering, but I've been told he's a jerk.

I'm surprised Paul was taken aback by that on the fourth meet. I think things like that are pretty expected. I was more freaked the very first time around when everyone knew about the smutty trainwreck comics that were linked from the Jack comic mainpage. Well, it was pretty expected but I remember saying "I'm not sure I feel comfortable being in the same room with you guys!".

But, yeah it's pretty fun to sit around and crack in-jokes about things that you otherwise never could. Combine that with exploring a european city and broaden your knowledge, eat good foods etc. It's all pretty great.

Oh, I wasn't taken aback by it, it's just not very common that you sit in a room with other people and they know about several of the same obscure internet memes that you do. Though I suppose it's natural that if you like a webcomic, you check out the sites it links to and so on. You can get somewhere really weird in a few clicks.

That's what I feel like when I'm at a con. Someone makes an obscure joke and I laugh because I get it.

Just thought I'd check... I know it's taking place in Copenhagen, this August meeting we have, but where precisely? Knowing that would be helpful when I'm booking a hotel room...

If nothing else is said at this point, it'll be the week starting from the 18th of August.

I really hope it won't interfer with any of my plans but if it will, I'll just come anyway but maybe just for 3-4 days. It's too early to tell but we should fix this date.

Starting Monday the 18th of August is fine with me. Mr T says he's in, too.

As for where in Copenhagen precisely, I'd say near the city center mostly. Copenhagen's not that big really. If you find a hotel with an address in the postal codes 1000 - 2300, you should be fine. City center proper would be 1000 - 1999, the rest reasonably close. 2400 and up will land you in the suburbs.

I don't know if I'll be making it yet, still need to see how the financial side of things shape up. Plus my family were hoping to have me up for at least part of the week, so I may not make it in until the tuesday.

Also, Paul, do you have a contact address for Mr Tosser? I'd like to make sure he's okay with the possible idea of me staying round his.

BTW, if you need any specific info on a hotel or whatever, I can probably help with that, so feel free to ask.

Hey guys, are we sticking with August 19th as the starting date? If so, I'll go buy some train or plane tickets...

19th is still the plan for me. Mr Tosser is fine with me staying round his place, so I just need to sort out plane tickets.
