The hell? Is Maynard ignoring Evan on purpose, or is he just completely oblivious?
I'm a tad late, but:

It works perfectly as it is. Thankfully, I don't know what it's like not being able to breathe, but that page makes it look very serious and very unpleasant - I mean, it's obvious it is just that by the next page when Evan falls to his knees, but the 20070302 page conveys the situation very well on its own.theSuburbanLetdown wrote:I'm glad it makes sense. It didn't turn out the way I envisioned it. I should've made more panels of choking. That's what I get for not thumbnailing this one first.

Hehe, fun page. "Ashley told me to beat your ass". Poor Evan just can't geat a break. All that just because he was being really annoying...
Note to self: stop asking questions like "is Maynard ignoring Evan on purpose?" It's all explained eventually. Though reading a comic one page at a time every few days sometimes makes me impatient... Oh well.
Say, when's the End of Things book collection coming out?

Yeah, I wanted the audience to be able to tell that they are fake swords. I didn't want them to think I have no idea how to draw a sword. Plus the tape and tennis racquet grips look cool when drawn out.
These swords are built to Illinois State University Combat Club specifications. They're built from a PVC core, with at least 3 layers of open-cell camping foam, which it glued to the core. The blade is covered with a soft fabric, usually something like a pillowcase, then covered in duct tape. The pommel usually has a raquetball filled with pennies in it.
Since we didn't go to ISU and didn't fight in their club, my sword is made with only 2 layers of foam so I can stab quicker. In the world of foam sword fighting, I officially died in my final battle.
