I got Understanding Comics in London yesterday.
Pretty good, I must read it through again in detail soon. Some very interesting concepts, though I was quite surprised by how much I and Scott McCloud seem to think along the same lines in some ways. I must get the other one soon.
Mab
PS: Oh, but I don't see any mention of one of my most distinctive, self-developed features - I did spot Scott McCloud-shaped panels but I didn't see anything referring to the way I chop out or mould the panel frames to outline some characters standing in the foreground (as is seen here in a character-specific way, and also here in the middle panel to show foreground characters standing "beyond" the panel. Oh crap, I MUST repair the transparent gif glitch in that strip.)
I'll have to think about this whole comic thing even further. There's still so much I want to experiment with. I have a concept for an extremely experimental "comic strip" version of this poem where almost every panel or sequence will be unorthodox, it's something I've wanted to do for YEARS - five years, I think. Poetry comics are something I have wanted to try for a while - if anyone can tell me who created the book "POETRY COMICS" I'll be forever grateful as I want a copy of that so much.
Daniel
------------------

I invited him to Nightstar's #webcomics, but I doubt he'll ever show--he's far too busy.

quote:
PS: Oh, but I don't see any mention of one of my most distinctive, self-developed features - I did spot Scott McCloud-shaped panels but I didn't see anything referring to the way I chop out or mould the panel frames to outline some characters standing in the foreground (as is seen here in a character-specific way, and also here in the middle panel to show foreground characters standing "beyond" the panel. "Truth hides on the other side of a two-way mirror
In countless documents sent straight to the shredder
That might finally give us the whole of the picture
But until the day we decide to dig a little deeper
We know that truth will hide
Under fallen rocks and stones
At the end of a disconnected phone
Down an unmarked street
And buried, deep beneath your feet."
