Fred/Kristy/Cathe/ ANYONE interested in a LARP??

Um...I've played Phoenix once, as a Lesser Quickling named Pokono. She made quite the impression on the people she met, especially with the most random set of skills a person could pick up, and the fact that I didn't tag along with Kristy's Half-Elven Druid the entire time, along with the great make-up and costume I had, considering it was my first time at that particular LARP. (I like run-on sentences) Kristy goes down there to play once or twice a year...for several years now..which is why you probably haven't seen her there before.
I'd have to say, I went down there last year, because it was convenvient for me to meet up with my sister later, to spend the X-mas with her family, and the neice and nephew I don't get to see much. (I had a blast!) So, if I continue to go to Phoenix, it will probably be on a yearly to bi-yearly basis, revolving around the holidays where my sister is visiting her in-laws.
As for FFXI...go Thief...I play a blackmage already, who's going dark knight (you can't start off as a dark knight)....my character is very possessive of the job at the moment. ^^

I've been playing Phoenix since 2000. Went to nearly every event for 'bout a year until I moved to GA and now I go once or twice a year. I play Mahalia Sundeep (the half-elf who runs the dire chicken race every december) and also one of the selkies. I would like to point out that the Phoenix boards is probably where you found the link to the comic.

Phoenix is too far a drive for us here (though I will be making the May event coincidentally) We play NERO in Atlanta to get our fix.

It's my birthday too (well that monday is) which is why I'll be in Louisiana. And yes, I know it's at Fontainebleau. Which makes me happy 'cause then I can drive the 20 minutes home and take a real shower. ^_^

After hearing lots from Fred about LARPs, I admit that I'm curious to learn more about them or see one but we don't have such coolness in Upstate NY.

*Sob!*

Oh well...

There is most likely an IFGS(International Fantasy Gaming Society) or NERO(New England Roleplay Organization) chapter somewhere near by. They are probably two of the most common.

Ah.. It was called Crossroads. We started it 'cause there were no larps in Savannah. I wrote up the world history for a class project and the larp ran for about 7 months. Fred and I were in charge of the plot and had all these intresting twist ideas that the players would run into things that would eventually all tie together and help them defeat the big baddie and it was all fun and cool and stuff.

But the group of players we had didn't care about plot. All they did was complain about how there wasn't enough dumb random monsters to kill and they didn't get enough loot. So we gave them some random encounter battles and loot. And they said, "That's all?" So we said, "Screw you guys. Now there's no larp. Have fun with your loot, ass." And so Crossroads died.

This may also have been partly due to the fact that we had a falling out with the other co-creator who ran the logistics side of the game.

Here's me dressed as one of the main npc's (you have to C&P it) : angelfire.com/alt/poowaffle/me_meylen.jpg
I wore that to class on the day of my final. We taught the class how to fight larp style. It was super fun. ^_^

I've heard of crossroads somewhere but I don't remember. Those are some intersting ears in the picture. Do you or Fred know a J.D. Meyers from NERO? He's in a LARP that I do.

Yeah, I've seen him on the message boards...he plays a hobling, according to one post...I wanna think he's a full time monster who used to buy candles from me, but I could be thinking of someone else.....I almost got the name confused with Darrin Myers, who's my ex's bestfriend, who plays the half-orc Sir Kezren... ~shrugs~ There's a whole lot of people there who I meet, but never really remember, partially because we don't make every event, and a lot of people come and go as they please as well.

There may not be any in upstate NY, but there IS Nero Alliance in PA, OH, MA, NH, NJ, and 3 in MI. And there is an event this weekend at the Nero Alliance PA chapter. check out http://www.nerohq.com for directions and how to get to an event. (shamless plug, but hey I write plot for em  )

Yeah, I know I've told Dennis about the Alliance PA chapter. ^^ It's where Kristy created her gypsy, and my second Mystic Wood Elf has started picking up a gypsy accent, from traveling with around with Kristy and Ryan's gypsies for so long! Plus my MWE is well known their by some of the biata for her excellent Hot Cocoa. ;p
