Canada, huh? That's a long walk!
Well that's not such a bad thing...by the time you walk up here you'll be able to legally drink (I'm assuming you might choose to drink...I myself don't drink)

I don't need to drink. I'm scared to think what would happen if I got drunk. 0_o No, I think I'll abstain. XP

I am a she!

Eek... I feel like such a little kid... Most of you seem to be past drinking age and I'm still a minor! ;_;
Hey! I am 17! Woo-hoo! *waves imaginary banner and throws imaginary confetti* Dude! I want to go to Canada. *scribbles on pad "Places to go before I die" Number 5.) Canada*

Hm... e-mail you? Should I really e-mail a forty-year-old guy that I don't know? Just kidding!

I love world history, especially ancient civilizations. The only thing I really know is what I learned in class. Plus, I don't watch a lot of TV (*burns that evil piece of crap*) so I'm sure my knowledge isn't as extensive as yours... so I'm not sure how interesting it'll be for you. For me... Late apology about the he/she thing, Mikki. I thought you were a she but just didn't want to be wrong. You know how angry those boys get when you mistake their gender. ^_^

My apologies!

Oh, it's fine, I don't care. Some little kid called me a guy. It was so funny! I can't wear baggy clothes apparently... XD

Hey, no need to feel that way. I'd like to think you're among friends here. As long as you have something to contribute to the discussions, it shouldn't matter how old you are.

Heck, I'm technically old enough to be your Dad! :o *Runs to look for his walker*

I'm always happy to chat with fellow fans or people with common interests. Drinking's overrated, so enjoy your youth and have fun here and elsewhere.

PS: Yes, Canada is a neat place. I do enjoy their beer on occasion and Toronto is a cool city.

*running away from you with the walker* I'm playing, I wouldn't do that. :P Hey isn't Toronto where Bryan Singer filmed X-men 2? I know it is somewhere is Cananda.

Hi mikki,

I appreciate the joke but no need to worry, I have no wish to do anything inappropriate with a young person...those creeps all belong in jail. Fred's known me since 1998/99, I forget what year I first met her but it was somewhere around there. Anyway, I always do my best to be a gentleman.

Anyhoo, I'm glad you enjoy world history and ancient civilizations. I originally planned on being a history major in college but switched to english. I'm still a big history nerd, though. I tried teaching for awhile but it wasn't for me so I became a reference librarian instead. I still think about teaching but changing my profession involves lots of work. I get discouraged at work sometimes by all the teens I meet who consider reading an ordeal and their knowledge of basic history is abysmal. Thankfully, I meet other teens who do give a damn about what they're being taught in school and they help restore my faith in my job.

Yeah, I find all that stuff fascinating: Ancient Egypt, The Greeks, Romans, Asian history, European history. The various wars and historical figures...great stuff! There are many great programs on these topics on TV, which I'm sure will enhance what you're being taught in school. I'm not a huge TV fan either but it does have some value.

If you'd like to chat history, feel free to write. Yes, I've been around longer than you and I get paid to do research for a living. I do have more experience and probably more knowledge in this area than you but I'd still enjoy reading what you have to say. If I succeed in teaching something, great! I also enjoy reading new views on topics so I doubt you'd be too boring for me (LOL!).

Hey!

Get back here with that, you young whippersnapper! Ooh, my lumbago!

Actually, Toronto is a neat city. It's roughly a five hour drive away from me, so it makes for a nice daytrip. I usually go for the cool comics convention in August. It's a very clean place, for a big city and there's plenty to see/do there, so it's worth the trip.

And, yes, a number of movies/TV shows are filmed in Canada as I believe production costs are cheaper there. X-Men 2 did film there.

I'd like to see more of Canada someday but I've only made it to Toronto so far...oh yeah, and a place called Fort Francis (I have relatives in that area).

I'm not a huge drinker but enjoy a Labatt's Blue once or twice a year. I've never been all-out drunk because I prefer keeping a clear head.

*claps* I agree. Even when I do turn 21, I'm just going to drink occasionally. Empe gave me a sip of her margarita once. It was good, but I just don't like that taste of alcohol. *blech*

That's a smart attitude to have, mikki. Good for you.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with a drink now and then. I tried an Apple margarita once and thought it was good but I didn't have any need to down an entire one by myself.

My relatives in Minnesota enjoy a drink called a Black Russian. I've had those a few times when I'm there for a visit. I can manage one but have no desire to have two.

Yep, I'm destined to be boring and sober, I guess.

Yay! Thanks!

I don't think I'm boring... At least, I hope not. 0_o I'm told on a daily basis, "You so crazy!" So, I guess that means I'm not boring... I can get "drunk" off anything with caffiene. XD

Yay! I was right about that! I'm happy! *grr at Bryan Singer who gave up X-3 to film Superman!* :ick:

About the drinking. I don't touch the stuff. Put me in the middle of a lot of friends and then I'll be alright. Or late night football games will do fine with a can of Mountain Dew and some chips. CHIPS! < latest comic on Noses Optional

Good man!

Mountain Dew is my one real vice. Gimmie a can of that and some munchies and I'm a happy librarian.
