This Is Gravity
Hooboy. With license to pitch, pitch I shall:
Gravity (or 'This Is Gravity', or 'That Nonsense About Some Girl With A Frog', people can never seem to agree on the title) is a long-form fantasy comic about ... well ... basically anything I feel like writing about. I know the words 'genre-bending' are starting to become cliche, but ... there you go. I've got ideas, and this is my outlet. Right now I'm doing the art, but I've got a bunch of stuff involving guest artists in the future.
I'd rate it 14+ for language. Guess I should mention that.
Comments, constructive criticism, and other nice things that are brought to you by the letter 'C' are more than welcome.
Thanks, and have a nice day!

It's a good comic. You make good use of shadow and contrast, although the opening plot seemed a bit forced and the pace seemed a bit rushed.
And on that note, the only recommendation I can really make is that for web comics, I usually expect the comic itself to be the first thing I see when I hit the website. It was a bit disorienting to click a link to get to the comic.
It also reminds me a lot of "The Maxx" by Sam Keith. Hopefully you liked it or haven't heard of it, otherwise that comment's going to sound offencive and it wasn't meant to be.

I'm really enjoying this. I love the premise, and the artwork is great, as is the writing. You have a great contrast, and use black well. Only problem is, I can see your x's and a gap between the filled in shadow and the outlines sometimes. Just go over the x's you have with black already, and uncheck the anti-aliasing box in the options for the paint bucket (assuming you're using Photoshop, that is).
The flames look great, too.
I agree with megaskunjii, though. The comic should be the first thing you see on the page. It gets annoying to have to click links to find it.

I found this quite engrossing. What I really liked was the juxtaposition between humor (provided by demon-y characters Kretch and Twigglesrum; hope to see them again!), and Maggie's more angsty moments. Nicely done.
Gotta "third" the comment regarding placing the comic on the first page. Putting the latest comic(s) anywhere other than the entry page can be a tad annoying, especially for returning readers.

To be honest, I did sort of rush the opening. It was the very first time I'd done *anything* comicky, and I still didn't have enough confidence to think I could stick with it. So I followed the philosophy of 'get it up as fast as you can so that you don't have time to second-guess what you're doing'.
And I *have* heard of The Maxx! I haven't read any of the comics, but I was a big fan of the MTV animated adaptation =D

You can see the X's? Oops. I guess it's my monitor, but I thought I got those.Inshue wrote:I'm really enjoying this. I love the premise, and the artwork is great, as is the writing. And thanks! I wish I could make the whole comic on fire. It would get really boring after a while, but at least it would be easier than drawing buildings and such

Thanks! I'm trying to strike a balance in everything, just to keep things interesting for myself (as well as the reader). I'm glad you think it's working =)adobedragon wrote:I found this quite engrossing. And I appreciate the comments about putting the comic on the front page. Even though I need my front page to take care of administrative stuff, I think what I'll do is put a link to the most recent comic up there. Thanks, people.
Actually, I've noticed the problem with the x's in some of my comics, too. I just got a new monitor, so that's probably doing it.angermouse wrote:You can see the X's? Oops. Well, "The Maxx" comic book and animated mini-series are pretty close to each other. There's a few differences here and there, but nothing major.
I bookmarked your comic, BTW...

Thanks for the suggestion. I was told pretty much the same thing after the second chapter, and actually do start using italics in the third chapter ... and you're right, it does look and feel much better.LibertyCabbage wrote:Due to the comic's volatile nature, I'll abstain from criticizing it. However, I suggest you consider using bold text or italics rather than asterisks to emphasize words.
Thank you very much!Eve Z. wrote:Love your comic. also linked it to my site. hic. The site needs a little work, but the comic is great from my point of view.
