The Infamous

Been drawing this since 2002 with Keenspace as the host. It actully started out as a space adventure in the future about a group of people meeting and getting into trouble or causing ruckus. But after awhile I tired of the genre and went on hiatus. Now am back in a new modern day genre with a new plot underway though you can still see the comic's first predecessor. Hoping to update it Mon-Thurs.

You need to do a better job erasing the pencil lines and making the text more legible. It's difficult to read the comic with these obstacles. The chaotic panel layout makes it difficult as well -- stick to simpler panels (some comics are fine but some are a mess.) Also, lay off the 4th-wall stuff, it's generally accepted as being unclever and something to be avoided. Other than that, it seems your big challenge now is to stay dedicated with the comic, as you seem to be either very prolific or on hiatus.

Also, you should add some more content to your page. It's pretty empty right now.

Summary: work on the neatness and consistency.

The calendar doesn't appear on your index page. I see the tag ***calender*** instead.
I can't seem to view some of your pages.
Pages like e.g http://theinfamous.keenspace.com/d/20050419.html have rather messy layouts and I think there's too many panels cramped in this page.

Okay, there's a few problems with this...but the biggest is the text.

When drawing a comic you plot out the text and do the text balloons first. That way you aren't having to squish and contort them into the free space between your characters and whatnot.

Before you start drawing your comic, make sure to plot out a logical panel structure, then place the word baloons, then draw the characters.

Or don't do it that way. I don't. I leave 'empty' space on each panel for where I intend the bubbles to go. There may be background drawn there, but the bubbles can go over the top without covering characters or other bits of importance.

Mind you, I put the text and bubbles in through the computer after I've drawn the panel. You might prefer to do it some other way.

There's more than one way to root a rooster. You'll work it out.

I agree with Jackhass here. Number 1 is your bubbles, not your art. Letter the dialogue before you start to draw, then draw the characters expressions and positions, then bubble and tail the letters. That way you know your potential space beforehand.

Ah , thanks guys. Truth be told, the way I was doing the comic the first time was partiarly the reason I restarted it. Anything before April 8 ,2005 is all my old stuff and yeah I was doing the text horribly due to drawing in small panels (i.e: I didn't use all of the paper). I've change the format since then though I still need work on the bubbles, so once again thanks for the advice.

Just two questions though:
What do you thank of my art style?
And What is the tag for storyline dropdown?

Perhaps if you're computer lettering Dutch, but his guy is doing it by hand...so what I suggested is probably the best option.

Oh, and I think your art style is actually fairly decent. Just more focus on the basic stuff...cleaning up the comic, panel structure, lettering and so on and you'd have a pretty decent looking comic.

Oh, and the tag for dropdowns is actually ***storyline*** not ***dropdown***. The gear site gives you all the stuff you should need to know about this kind of stuff.

Sorry but that is the ugliest shade of greenish blue I have ever seen. If you want a light background colour for your site choose somthing thats a little pailer and so easier on the eyes. Anyway...keep it up
